Gluten-Free ... Living ...
Below is a list of books that I have here at my home and that I use for gluten-free info and recipes.
I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance and PCOS. This makes it difficult to lose weight, but I am
trying my best to get healthy again. Unfortunately, I am also gluten intolerant and have allergies to several
other foods - tomatoes and peppers. I have also been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and rheumatoid arthritis. My goal
for 2010 is to lose 25-30 lbs. and hope that the weight loss will help improve my health.

... More Than Rubies Monday - 1/7/07 ...

I wasn't sure what I as going to blog today until I read something last night that really just hit home. I was finishing up my book, The Writing Diet, and towards the end of the book, there was a chapter called "One Day at a Time." I am reading this book as I begin a journey to be Fit by Forty. Here are some quotes that I think we can apply to any part of our lives.
"If we take our lives in daily increments, we often find we can face our fears successfully."
" For most of us, success comes in tiny increments. Sweeping declarations and grandiose commitments get us nowhere."
"One day at a time, most of us find we can succeed."
"Most of us get discouraged when we try to look at the big picture. That is why it pays to look at the small picture. It pays to ask ourselves, "How am I doing today - just today?" The answer is often, "Very well, thank you."
"Just for today we can manage to eat well. Just for today we can manage some exercise. Just for today we can sandwich in a little spiritual reading ... At day's end, instead of a to-do list, we have what might be called a "ta dah" list -- a sizable handful of things well done. We couldn't face the prospect of being so virtuous for the rest of our lives, but a day at a time, it's quite possible -- even enjoyable."
Trying to be the Proverbs 31 woman always seems overwhelming to me. However, if I break things down into little baby steps and just try TODAY to do the best I can, then I can look back at the end of the day and be satisfied with whatever progress I made. It's a new year and a time to start some new habits and break some old, often bad, habits. But don't let your daily responsibilities overwhelm you ... just do the next thing and keep moving through your day. Pray to God to help you tackle that 'to-do' list and, hopefully, you'll begin to see it more like the "ta dah" list mentioned above. Even if you don't get everything done by the end of the day, find joy in all that you did accomplish and pat yourself on the back for that! Then, get up the next day and do it again ... I think we'll all be amazed at what we can do "one day at a time."
If you'd like to share any thoughts on this or maybe something that works for you as you take things "one day at a time," post an entry and then link it from the Mr. Linky below.

OK, I am NOT the most computer saavy individual on earth....but one set of my grandchildren call their other grandma "meme"....sorry. You can send me a personal message if you'd like. I would like to share my Proverbs 31 stuff.

I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, mom to two wonderful kids, and I work from home part-time for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. Please join me here "at home with Kris."
5:30am - get up and exercise; get ready for the day 7:30am - kids to school 8-9am - errands/homekeeping 9-Noon - work Noon - Lunch/homekeeping 1-2:30pm - finish up work, if needed
The afternoons vary depending upon our evening schedules, but they are generally spent helping the kids with their homework, exercising several afternoons a week,
getting dinner ready, homekeeping, etc.
6pm - dinner & clean kitchen 7pm - final email check for work
The rest of the evening is spent straightening the house for the next day, finishing up homework with the kids, and relaxing by the TV or with a good book!
I need to make some time for my hobbies, but I'm really enjoying reading books right now!
Housekeeping :: Schedule::
I use the Motivated Moms Planner for my
daily schedule. My children have weekend chores which really helps me a LOT! I do laundry as it fills the sorter and straighten the house every morning
and evening.
:: Exercise Plan ::
My basic plan is to work up to 45 minutes of cardio, 20 min. of strength training and 20 min. of yoga/flexibility work daily.
