Thursday means that the weekend is fast approaching. I like the bedroom to stay neat throughout the week. I make my bed every morning and work to keep the endtables clear of clutter. This is the best view of the room (i.e. the neatest view!). On Thursdays, I'll be working to keep the surfaces decluttered, the ironing done and the closets straightened up.
We have 2 closets in this room. The one not pictured is to the left of the photo and is about twice as big as the mirrored closet that you can see in the photo. This smaller closet holds our sweaters, blankets and my husbands jeans and work-around-the-house clothes. It also holds some odds and ends items like my cross-stitch supplies, gym bags and such. This is my husband's armoire that is across from the foot of the bed. See the hanging clothes on the door? That is the ironing to be done ... I hate ironing, but am going to get it all done on Thursdays from now on! On the floor to the left of the armoire are my husband's karate outfits. To the right is just "stuff" ... this is a big hot spot in our home ... it tends to need straightening all of the time! Our goal is to someday build a nice "built-in" dresser/armoire/TV shelf in this area. It used to hold a vanity for a woman to use to put on her make-up, but the previous owners ripped that out because they needed space for THEIR armoire!
This photo shows my dresser that is next to the smaller closet (and you can see the bigger closet in my mirror!). The top of the dresser is fairly clean in this photo, but it is often full of laundry to be mended, blankets, my husband's evening clothes that he changes into after he gets home from work. You name it and it can often be found here!
My laundry room is actually a closet in the main hallway. I love that I do NOT have to go to the basement to do the laundry! As you can see, my shelves can get fairly cluttered ... so, on Thursdays, I'll be straightening those up as needed. I would love to have some cabinets so that this room would appear neater, but they are a "want" not a need! My drying rack is to the left of the washer and my sorter is to the right. I keep our medicines on the shelves so that young children visiting our home can't get into them accidentally. I am hoping to find some inexpensive baskets or plastic storage containers to neaten this up a bit.
This photo shows my 3-way sorter (reds, darks, whites), my dryer, linen shelves and some odds and ends that are stored in this room. That seasonal stuff hanging from the pegs is waiting to go downstairs in the storage closet in the guest room. The linen shelves can often get quite messy so I'll be checking weekly to see if it needs straightening.
