Getting
... Healthy ...

I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance and PCOS. This makes it difficult to lose weight, but I am trying my best to get healthy again. Unfortunately, I am also gluten intolerant and have allergies to several other foods - tomatoes and peppers. I hope that 2009 is FINALLY the year that I get healthy. You can read my plans for healthier living in this post. My eating plan will be from The Insulin Resistance Diet book. It will include no added sugar and a focus on whole foods. I have a sugar addiction so this will be tough at first! Other books that I will be following include The 3-Hour Diet, the Superfoods books and The 12 Best Foods Cookbook.

Starting weight: 1/4/09 - 161.6 lbs.

... More Than Rubies Monday - a new meme! ...

I have participated in several daily memes for a while - Menu Plan Monday, Tackle It Tuesday, Works for Me Wednesday and Frugal Friday are my favorites. Because my current focus is to be a better child of God, wife, mother and homemaker, I have decided to start my own meme on Mondays -  "More than Rubies Monday."

In corresponding with Proverbs 31, I want to encourage other women to not get bogged down in the monotony of the daily routine. Our job as SAHMs is soooo very important! Many of us have part-time jobs, too ... whether that be working outside the home, online from your own computer or saving money by couponing and yard saling. All of those things bring in extra money for your family. However, to get it all done takes organization and diligence. Trust me, there are days when I don't feel like doing what needs to be done, but I know that I can't slack off or my family will suffer.

I'm not sure of the direction that this meme will go, but here are some ideas off of the top of my head ... I'd like for us to share tips about what works for us to keep motivated to "stay the course." I'd love to share daily schedules and tips for staying organized while working from home, whatever that may be. I'd also like to share ideas for keeping our marriages strong and things we do to support our husbands in their jobs. We also might discuss what we are doing to train up our daughters to be Proverbs 31 women and how we are helping our sons to find a woman "worth more than rubies."

I have created some buttons and banners for you to use on your blog to link back to my main post.  You can grab those banners (featured below) on this page. Just right-click to save and link them to the category http://www.homesteadblogger.com/athomewithkris/More%2BThan%2BRubies%2BMonday/. If you need help with creating the coding for a button to link back to me, just ask and I'll be happy to help! If you'd like for me to create your own banner using one of those below but with a different verse from Proverbs 31, just ask! (Scroll down past banners for more info!)

the banner above is only good if you have a white background!

I know that a lot of memes use Mr. Linky for people to add their post to, but that is a paid feature. Until I know whether this meme is going to take off, I'm just going to ask that you post a comment giving the link to your "More than Rubies Monday" post.

Because this is something new, I am not going to post a question for the week. However, I would like to see if there is interest in this meme, so leave a comment if you think you might participate, even if it won't be every week. I look forward to learning more about you!

... My Schedules ...

:: My Daily Schedule::

5:30am - up and exercise
6:00am - get kids up
7:30am - kids to school
8-9am - errands/homekeeping
9-Noon - work
Noon - Lunch/homekeeping
1-2:30pm - finish up work, if needed

The afternoons vary depending upon our evening schedules, but they are generally spent helping the kids with their homework, exercising several afternoons a week, getting dinner ready, homekeeping, etc.

6pm - dinner & clean kitchen
7pm - final email check for work

The rest of the evening is spent straightening the house for the next day, finishing up homework with the kids, and relaxing by the TV or with a good book! I need to make some time for my hobbies, but I'm really enjoying reading books right now!

Housekeeping
:: Schedule::

I use the Motivated Moms Planner for my daily schedule. My children have weekend chores which really helps me a LOT! I do laundry as it fills the sorter and straighten the house every morning and evening.

:: Exercise Plan ::
My basic plan is 30 minutes of cardio daily and strength training 4 days weekly. I also hope to do yoga 1-2 times weekly.
