Hi Ho, surfercajun here. Have not been on in a while. Thank you all for your sweet and encouraging posts!! Canned some pears Thursday. They did not turn to bad. The peaches that my daughter and I did turned out great! Actually found a recipe for cooking the pits to the peaches to make another perserve. (waste not want not...just to bad I did not keep the pits! LOL) We are doing a challenge this year for Christmas. We are spending $5 on each person. We will each get 20.00 There are four of us, well five counting the baby. So say I have 20. I can spend $5 on each person with a little extra. Hubby, son, and daughter... 5, 10, 15. The extra five could cover taxes or be divided between the three. My middle child suggested that we each spend $10 for the baby since he was new and did not know the rules. So far so good. My daughter found a nice 3.99 frame at GoodWill in which I made a collage for my middle son of all his baby pitures. For my daughter I found a nice recipe box for .59 and am placing recipes inside from me and my mom. also found her a nice panda mug ( loves the pandas) for .99. And to top it off, thus far I found a recipe for mixing hot cocoa mix using dry milk powder. (and that was free) *grin* Have hubby left but I think I have him covered. He loves that game that is wild in Japan right now with the number in a box. Sudoku I think is what it is called. All that would leave is the stockings and we get to spend 20 each for that. I think that makes $360 (rougly) for what we are spending on for Christmas for a family of five. I bet some of you women out there could and would do better than that number and on a larger family! Hubby is wanting to buck the system and spend more. I think we should stick to the spirit of the game and choose thoughful gifts instead. Even a bag of sugar on sale with a thoughtful note is fair game! The kids are having a great time with figuring out what they can get out of their money. Even my middle child has figured out something his sister is wanting that is less than $5. This should be intresting when Christmas DOES come. LOL I'll keep you posted after Christmas on the gifts. Thought maybe my mom would like to join in. But no, the ole' gal is set in her ways. ( and I am NOT going to be the one to move her) LOL Still trying to find a church home. I tend to get a little depressed trying to find one. I need to keep learning patience and know that one day, the right fit will come. Just want an old fashion church singing from the hymns. Presbyterian church or a bible church. Hope I am not asking to much. My hubby and the *boys* are on one side of the room saying they are on the cool side and us girls are on the loser side of the room. lol (whatever) Purchased some new chairs from Ashley furniture Friday night. ( know this seems silly) but I am very excited! They are dinning room chairs that have a flair of southwest on it. So cool! Our old chairs have been with us 16 years now. (they did not quite make the move out to Texas) Other than that...we celebrated 17 years of marriage yesterday!!! Thanks for reading.....lisa |
