Celebrating my blessings!

Greetings Friends!
This last Friday was my son, Ezekiel's birthday! What a wonderful day it was to celebrate my blessing! The Father has so graciously given me these children; I am truly humbled to be their mommy. I must take each day, each moment, with a seriousness and respect of the great calling that He has placed on my life! Oh! dear friends, I can not count the times I have given thanks to the Father for letting me be this young mans mother! Ezekiel was born from our hearts through adoption. The battle was long and fierce for him and his siblings and I will never take for granted what the Lord has done in bringing them into our home. Ezekiel is a mighty man for Christ. May he grow strong to accomplish all the Lord has set before him... all for God's Glory!

Ezekiel planed out his day the night before his birthday. To start the day off we all enjoyed a day of yard sales! Fun, fun, fun! Our sweet neighbors invited us to join them in a city not far from here that had a city wide yard sale! There were hundreds of yard sales in this small country town. We parked our car and walked to each one.. NO! We didn't visit them all, not even close! We had take a certain amount with us and once that was gone we were done and ready for a trip to the ice cream parlor!  Ezekiel requested ice cream at the parlor instead of a cake so off we went!  What a delightful treat it was to spend time with all the children. The Lord poured out such peace upon our family. I enjoyed the day as if there were no life troubles to distract me. For at that moment, there was nothing more important than enjoying all that the Father has given me- my blessings!  After ice cream, we headed back home for naps and put all our yard sale finds in their places. Sammy was excited about his bubble lawn mower that he bought with his own dollar. He is eager to help the big boys mow the yard! Naps refreshed us so we could tackle the rest of our day. Off we went again for dinner and a night at the lake for hot air balloon rides! The children were so tickled to be walking around these huge balloons. None of them were frightened about going up in them, which really surprised me since I have some very reserved and cautious children at times. Balloon rides, climbing on fire trucks, bouncing in bounce houses and playing on the grass with siblings took us late into the night. We all enjoyed seeing the hot air balloons light up at night! The photos we took didn't even come close to capturing how pretty it was. I have posted a slide show on the side of the blog for you to enjoy!

Spiritually, the Lord continues to work in each of our hearts! I am thankful that He will complete the good work He has begun! My heart continues to wait upon the Lord. I will patiently bear the delay of His answer to me with confidence that it will come in due season! What a sweet heart work, transformation, that has been taking place in my life!

How are you dear friends? Please send us a note as the Lord allows you too!

The Wood family sends hugs to each of you! Cheryl you have been in our prayers- we love you dearly dear sister! Lori- Rebekah enjoyed seeing Rachel's picture- she was surprised with how she had grown. I guess we forget that others are aging as we are too! :-) Kohout friends, Joe has yet another newspaper to share with you. I think he is trying to send hints that we would love to have you join us here in KS! :-) We know the Lord has each of us placed perfectly to testify of His love and grace- we just love you guys! Susi- did the children get Zeke's letter? If not, that is my fault. He wrote two letters that were the same and I threw one away.. I am hoping I didn't throw them both away. Let me know when you can! Well, there are so many of you dear friends that I would love to just come and sit and share with. For now, the Father has allowed us to share via our emails, letters, phone calls and blogs. I will thank Him for those moments and trust that "real life" fellowship will happen in His timing!

Until our next chat, may all His blessings abound in your hearts and home... all for His Glory!
With much love,
Mrs. Joseph Wood

Josiah, Bekah and Ezekiel- they are such a blessing to me~ I delight in each of them!

The girls gave toddlers "horsie rides" until late into the night. We all sat on the grass and had a simply relaxing and delighful time playing, laughing and loving each other! I thank the Lord for such sweet memories that were made!

Can't you just hear them giggle?!

Beth and Sarah my little ladies!

Baby burp pad?

Was wondering if anybody has a pattern for a baby burp pad that goes over the shoulder? When my children were small I used to use a diaper but I see the younger folks use a burp pad. I would like to make some for the craft fair.. If someone could share a pattern or a link I would be grateful.. Thanks..

Budget Friendly supper....

Since moving to the new homestead, our expenses have triple as far as groceries and gas. I have had to be creative as far as groceries are concerned. I am literally spending a fortune and can not wait to get some deer in the freezer but until then, we are trying to do some meatless dishes. Here is tonight’s recipe, super easy!!!!

Black Beans and Rice

I soaked my black beans all day and put them in a bean pot at about 3:00. I covered them with water about 2 inches above the beans. I added salt, pepper, garlic powder and 1 Tbsp. of oil and started to boil them. I turned them down to a simmer after bringing them to a boil. I simmered them for about 2 1/2 hours. After about an hour I started my brown rice. After the beans and rice were cooked, I added some rotel to the beans and simmered it for about 15 minutes. In a bowl I put rice and then topped it with the bean mixture. We added cheese and sour cream to our beans and rice. It was so delicious. We don't feel deprived at all.

Blessings,

Trixi

Hanna Has Left The Homestead!

Wow! What a difference a few hours can make. Ms. Hanna has left the building! None too soon for me. It was a LONG night.

As I blogged earlier this morning the power was starting to flicker. It went off and then came back on a few times. I am so surprised that we never lost power. I am so thankful too that the power stayed on.

I am thankful that the storm was not as bad, as it could have been. Just listening to the Hanna's winds outside make you so thankful to have a home for protection. You just never know how these storms will turn out. God is so good!

It is a mess outside. No downed trees to speak of. We will have to go walking through the woods later and see what that looks like. There are just a lot of leaves stripped from the trees and small branches everywhere.

I can remember after Hurricane Fran in the 90's, going outside and smelling nothing but pine trees. Those are the trees that took the most damage during Fran's reign around the homestead. It was just remembering Fran that got me out of bed so early this morning. (She was a HORRIBLE hurricane.) It's amazing that simply smelling something can bring back so many memories.

One really good thing has come out of this storm. I cooked all day yesterday to prepare for power outages this weekend. I have 3 meals already cooked and in the fridge to be consumed. That means that I don't have to cook dinner for 3 days, just heat and eat! (thanks again for the idea Violin Mom!)

Well, I need to get off here and get some cleaning done. Thank you Jesus for sparing us! To God be the glory great things He has done and is doing!

Thank you again for all of your prayers! You are all a blessing to me!

Bless all who pass this way!

Hello Everyone! We made it through the storm with no damage. People around us have no power but we still have ours. Praise The Lord! I went outside to check the damage and everything is okay. The wind is blowing about 25 miles a hour. The storm has passed but not sure why the wind is still here. I checked the forecast and we are not suppose to have them. What do they know. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Dh is out working in this mess so please keep all the workers in your prayers. God Bless. I

Cross Stitching Mania

Little Woman passed her skill of cross-stitching onto Juggler last night.  Little Woman began her cross-stitching hobby many years ago when I taught her.  Our first attempt was less than perfect, especially since I found out later that she had thrown away the beginning attempts of her piece when she got frustrated.  The second time she attempted to cross-stitch, something in her finally ignited.  It was a passion overflowing and there was no stopping her.

Cross Stitching

Now, she can share the skill with her younger sisters.  It gave me such a joy last night to watch the two together, sharing a moment, I know will forever be remembered by both. . . . . .  Proverbs 31:13   She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

Hannah Is At The Back Door LITTERALLY!

It is 5 in the morning here in southeastern NC. Hanna has just made landfall and is blowing full force. I couldn't sleep with all of the noise that is going on outside. The winds are at 45 mph sustained. I am sure that the power will be going out soon. It has been flickering for the past few hours.

Imagine standing on the shoreline of the beach. You hear the roar of the ocean as you stand next to it. That is the sound that I am hearing right now in my house. The storm is so noisy! The winds gust and the trees are bending. It is a frightening scenerio.

It is only that know my Lord is in control that I feel at ease. Jesus is so good! He has this storm in the palm of His hands. Praise His name!

Please continueto keep us in your prayers!

Bless all who pass this way!
