A Quiet Little Woman

Anyone guilty of procrastination????

For christmas I recieved a couple of Lamplighter books.  All of the gifts we get are things that are meant to lead us to Christ...  The 3 books that I got are:

The Giant Killer

Little Threads

Tomorrow

I just finished reading the last one today, and these book definately have helped to lead me to CHRIST!!

The Giant Killer: To be able to defeat any enemy you MUST know what they look like.  This story tells how the knight Fides defeats the Giants of Sloth, Selfishness, Pride, Hate and Untruth.  It really made me think of how the different giants may have control of different areas of my life, but I need to make sure that I have conquered them!!  The part of the story that pricked my heart most was when Fides was going through the swamps of forgetfulness and he heard a cry for help.  They woman that he helped out of the swamp was GRATITUDE.  She told him that the giant Pride had chased her into the swamp... she also told him how people often are on the way to her home but they forget what they were doing and they forget to be thankful.  DON'T LET PRIDE RUN GRATITUDE AWAY!!  ALWAYS KEEP THE LAMP OF MEMORY BURNING BRIGHT!!!  DON'T LET THESE GIANTS CONQUER... BUT CONQUER YOURSELF!!!

Little Threads: This story was about two little girls tangled thread and golden thread... tangled thread is so incredibly naughty and makes her mother's life very stressful, while on the other hand Golden thread is truly the golden thread in her mother's life.  AM I A GOLDEN THREAD IN MY FAMILY'S TAPESTRY OR A TANGLED ONE??

Tomorrow: This is the one that I finished today... ARGHH!!!  My heart is so pricked!!  I keep thinking... oh, I can't put that off, I have to do it today, right now, this moment!!  Tomorrow is the tragic story of a man who has a terrible habit of procrastination.  It completly ruins his life... he procrastinates writing letters to his uncle and ruins that relationship, he procrastinates running his buisness well and files bankruptcy, he procrastinates inocculating his son, only to have him die weeks later of small-pox, he prcastinates renewing his fire insurance, then his house burns down days later... sometimes it is a small thing that he procrastinates, sometimes a larger one.  But it really made me think of the many things that I procrastinate!!  All day today I've been thinking... can't procrastinate... have to put that away NOW... have to do that TODAY... I am so guilty of the great fault of procrastination!!!

These books have really helped me to recognize some faults that I have... we all have so many... do you ever just get discouraged of your many faults?  BUT through reading these books I am encouraged to GET RID of the AWFUL habit of procrastination, CONQUER my giants, and BECOME a golden thread in my family's tapestry.  May Heavenly Father help me as I begin this year more commited to following HIM and trying to become more like HIM EVERYDAY!!!

The first book you described reminds me somewhat of the book Pilgrim's Progress. Have you ever read that book? My mother read this book to me and my sister when we were around the ages of nine and ten and it made us scared of going to Hell. We decided that we had better be very good so we could get to heaven.
It is a very good book. It was written in the 1700's I think. A man in prison wrote it.
I think you would enjoy that book!

I'm a pretty bad procrastinator. Not for books, but for organizing and paperwork. Have fun reading your books.
Blessings,

Hi Alex!
I thought I woul djust drop by and say hi, and then I saw the books you where reading!
Isn't The Giant Killer such a good one! I read it to the Sparkie kids last year, and I learned SO much from it!
I have also read Little Threads, I read it with my Bible Study girls.
I have not read Tomorrow, but it is on my list of ones to buy. I just bought 7 more as I got money from my parents for Christmas for Lamplighter. I got, let's see if I can remember them. "Helen's Temper" Sjipwreacked but not Lost, Saved at Sea, My Mates and I, The Children of Coverley, and I have forgotten the others.
I also got the new ones Cobwebs and Cables and Faithful but not Famous before Christmas. Cobwebs and Cables is very good, I am reading it now but have not started the other one!
Good bye for now. Your friend Heather

It is so amazing how books can come into our lives and give us much needed what ever just at the proper time. I love reading and have discovered many of the things you described. I suppose we all need to face our faults and live life with Christ just as he plans it. Fearless and Seeking the truth which sets us FREE. Have a blessed 2008! *U* rilda
