A Quiet Little Woman

Tasha Tudor

I recently found out  a wonderful lady... Tasha Tudor.  I'm sure that you all have heard of her, but she does a lot of the things that I find so wonderful enchanting!!  At least they are enchanting to this city girl who LONGS to live in the country!!  She has the most amazing flower gardens, cooks on a woodburing stove, collects her own eggs, milks her own goats, grows almost everything, spins with a wheel that has been in her family since the 1700's, weaves linen, wears old-fashioned dresses... and so many other things!!  She has the most amazing paintings of the olden days... including the one below!!  I would love a kitchen like that...

Here are some pictures of her... isn't she a charming lady??

What rich lace!!!!

OH, and tea parties too!!

Dipping her own candles... what fun!!  We just got 3 beehives this year and are hoping to get some beeswax, maybe I could dip my own candles!!

I got my mom a book about Tasha Tudor for her birthday (The Private World of Tasha Tudor) and I just read it today... I'll have to share some of the quotes from it over this week... she is delightful!!  Well, enough rambling, hope you enjoy these charming pictures!!

Wow what wonderful pictures you have posted here of Tasha Tudor and yes I have heard of her. I love her clothing and I see that she wears "head coverings" too - whether these are head coverings or scarves etc because she likes wearing them would be interesting to find out. She certainly looks a very sweet and "gentle spirited" lady.

I am English and have always lived here, near enough. I live in the beautiful county of Somerset.

I look forward to reading more of your blog and getting to know you too. I dont mind you adding me as a friend at all.

By the way in answer to your question, I have been wearing skirts and dresses on and off for most of my life but I do wear jeans as well but I am trying to get away from wearing these. I certainly do prefer dressing in a more feminine way thats for sure.

Blessings

That sounds like one amazing women!! I wouldn't mind wearing some old fashioned dresses once in awhile. I think they are REALLY preety!!!! I like your blog!!!! But I do like some of the technology are country has now!

Makayla

I agree about how some technology is good... but sometimes I wish that there weren't always the noise of washers, dishwashers, and etc.!! Have you ever been on www.sensibility.com? They have some beautiful patterns for old fashioned dresses!! I have one of the patterns, but I have yet to make it! Thanks for visiting! I think that I've been on your blog before... i'll be sure to visit again!!!

Alex,

I have been a long time fan of Tasha Tudor....... she has illustrated beautiful children books! You should try to find some at the library so you can all enjoy them. :)

Ms. Tudor reminds me of my mother in law.... they look so very similar and my m-i-l is a big fan of Miss. Tudors!

Blessings,
gloria

Yes, I do know Tasha. well, I have read everything that I can find about her so I feel like I know her.

I always say, I am a Tasha wanabe.I would love to live my life like hers but my husband NEEDS his modern ways.

One of her quotes is about feminine dress. I can't quote exactly but she says that if God has made you a woman then be as feminine as posible.I do agree with her. If you can find that quote, by Tasha,I would like to read it again, since I can't remember all of it.

Thanks for visiting! I know what you mean about "knowing her". I feel like I could just go and sit in her parlor and knit or spin with her... what we miss from the old-fashioned days!!! Thanks for visiting!!
