From May 10

We have been in "hog heaven" with all this wonderful weather.  It's hard to get any schoolwork done like this!  We are just sneaking it in here and there.  Susanna just loves being outside.  She is a "naturalist", though-she likes to wip off all her clothes as soon as she thinks the coast is clear.

Yesterday we planted tomato plants, a lavender plant, 6 basil and 6 parsely.  I also mowed the lawn.  It's a wonder the things that end up in the lawn over the winter.  I had the kids walk along with me to grab out of my way rope, balls, sticks, rocks, toys.  Ugh and LOL.

This morning we seeded the bare patches in the lawn.  The kids all helped.  We stacked a bit of wood, too and got all the animals fed.  Hannah was up at 6:00 am feeding animals by herself-I was still sleeping!  She is really revved up because one of her friends is in horse 4-h and asked her if she wanted to join.  I need to check it out.  But, so far it sounds good.  They went for a trail ride together yesterday evening.

Jonah is so much like his father. We are all spreading grass seed by hand and all of a sudden, here comes Jonah with the seed spreader to do his.  He's got to have a gadget or machine of some kind to do things.  I guess it's more fun that way!

Also, when we were stacking wood I noticed one of the metal rods was loose, so I got the post hole pounder to get it in better.  As soon as Jonah saw me with that he got a concerned look on his face, ran over and get this.  He said to me:  "Whoa, whoa, whoa, Mom.  I better do that before you hurt yourself."   LOLROF!!!

The garden is really do well-I am so thrilled.  I am knee-deep in asparagus this year.  It's been worth the wait of 3 yrs. Wow-it is so good, I usually eat it right out of the garden.  The store stuff does not even compare.

The strawberries are everywhere and I'm a little overwhelmed with their ability to spread so quickly.  It feels so wrong to pull some them up and toss them.  I bought a couple plastic strawberry pots, so today or tomorrow will transplant some into the pots and give them to friends.

My newest venture in the house is Kefir.  A friend gave me a few of her live kefir grains.  It is unbelievably easy so far.  I was afraid to start it the last few months.  We had our first smoothie with kefir in it and it was delicious!
