Surgery

Posted on 2008-Dec-4 at 07:01 by m j - 0 Comments - Post Comment - Link

How things work out some times is such a pain in the tush!  On Monday I got in the mail the ok from our insurance company to have more surgery on my still broken leg , I was so happy.  The key word is WAS.    Why was?

Well...... last night Shannon brought home the paper work for the up coming year on our medical insurance.  Guess what ?  They changed insurance companies.     UUGGHHH.  I am glad we went back to our old insurance company, but did it have to start on 12-01-08???

Now we have to start all over with getting the insurance to approve for my new surgery.   I want this over and done with.  My leg has been broken for a year on the 27th of December.

God Bless, mj

Just wanted to kick in a short blog to let anyone interested know that I am still around.  Our whole family has been sick and there is always work to deal with and the usual family chaos.  I am still feeling thankful for all that God has blessed us with--we live humbly, but have so much!!  I had the girls make thankful plates last night in Bible class.  It was good to be back with the congregation after not being able to for a few services.  I had better sign off--it is going on 9 pm and one load of laundry still needs to be done!

Cute saying from my grand-babies

Posted on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 06:07 by m j - 0 Comments - Post Comment - Link

We went to Disneyland on the 2nd with the grand-babies.  We had so much fun with them.  We took them to carry on the annual tradition we have of going to see Santa.  We have done this with our girls and Marty.  It is the 1st time in 12 years that Marty is not in the picture.  That was very hard on us all, we miss him so much.

So on the way home I ask Shayna if Jeffie is in a pull up or panties??  Jeffie told me he is" wearing underwear and he is keeping them safe in his pants" .  We all laughed so hard.  How cute he is!!

While we were taking pictures of things Shayna is taking pictures of her purse who is a stuffed lion (don't ask) .  Maddie said " no pictures of the bear take pictures of MEEE".

They are so cute.  What a blessing they are to us.   I will post pictures of Disneyland with the grand-babies soon.

God Bless, mj

Bouncy Boy

We have 1 bathroom. So, for obvious reasons, The Little Man has a potty chair in the living room. After he uses his chair, he takes it into the bathroom & dumps it in the toilet. Well, he's very into bouncing right now, and the other day he decided to bounce on his way in to dump his potty.  You can imagine the results. We had a little talk about NOT bouncing with a full potty. Now, every time he goes to dump it, he reminds me that he shouldn't bounce with it. But as soon as he dumps it & it is clean, he grabs it & bounces his way back to the living room .

It's great to be 2.

Blessings.

Thurs Dec 4th

Well today is a wonderful day!  I guess LOL  At least I have another day!  The kids are being ornery (well Rach & Ethan) and Issac is still a little sickly.  Lucas is being his sweet self

I ordered some new kniting needles and sock yarn last week...I'm going to knit children's socks to sell.  I'm trying to knit some "testing" socks for mamas to try out on a diapering/parenting forum that I frequent. I'm so excited about this new venture!  Finding the actual time to knit though can prove interesting.  I'll hafta hide all my stuff and install a wireless security system to keep everything safe away from Ethan...my nosy little goober.  I have several different sock yarn colors so I can make for boys and girls...I only have like 2 pairs for newborns made right now, but I'm hoping to get my stock nicely built up soon!

 Well better get going!

Blessings,

Turning a corner

I believe I have finally turned a corner. It all started when I collected 6 bags of leaf litter at my church (and found out I really needed about 8.)

"Leaf mulch is what I yearn fer."

Don't get me wrong I love the evergreen forest in which we live, but I just love the wonderful earthy smell of decaying leaves and pondering all the useful ways it serves to "uppen" the soil.

But back to that corner I turned....

I brought those hefty bags of leaves home and spread them on my vegetable garden.  Then I dragged in a few downed limbs and scattered them around to help  keep winter winds from stealing too many of them.  Then it hit me!

I put the garden to bed, finally.

I blogged earlier about my difficulties in letting go of Summer...then Fall.  But I did it!

Maybe some of you may have felt this way too and I am in good company.  Boy, I felt funky, but now I am ready to get on with it and to herald in the spirit of Christmas, Gus and I took our hike in the woods.

I collected my bag-o-greens.

I loved it when I spread out my bag-o-greens and took in those glorious scents of grand fir, douglas fir, cedar and salal.

A few wreath rings, paddle wire, wire nippers and hand pruners and... Ta Da!

My wreath

Not perfectly round and tidy like store bought.  But I prefer it's flouncy, sorta unkempt, sorta loosey goosey appearance.  Perhaps a bow for some respectability?  No way!

God bless you and your loved ones. Merry Christmas.

my IRL BFF is here at HSB!!!!!

Posted on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 08:11 PM by Morning Sunshine - 0 Comments - Post Comment - Link

My BFF friend has finally joined us here!!!  She has been here vicariously for a few years, but has never had a fast enough internet connection to join herself.
Let me tell you about Harmony - she married one one of my best friends from high school, and I have totally forgotten that former best friend in her favor.  hehehe.  She is a true kindred spirit  - she was with me when we made soap for the first time, and she is game for lots of homestead-y activities.  Such as this week, she is here teaching me how to bottle beans.
She was homeschooled, and is one of the most outgoing and social people I have ever met.  She is an anti-testament to the homeschool-kids-are-unsocialized myth.  She has never met a stranger, and has a special knack for making people feel comfortable.  She is laughing at me right now.

So, please go visit Harmony and welcome her here!!!! pretty please!!!!!
