Ah! Fall!

Woke up this morning to a wonderfully cold crisp morning. Almost needed a fire, but I am trying  to hold off as long as I can. I'm not quite sure why, but there is something so comforting in the first fire of the cold season. I dont want to waste it on a day that is not deserving. I looked up in the  mountains around us this morning and they had their first snow of the season. I showed my husband and he said " I was just hunting up there this weekend!" I have heard many old timers in the area talking about this winter being a hard one. The squirrls are storing up extra amounts this fall. So we will see. I am making extra provisions for a hard winter. Does anyone else have any thoughts on the winter this year? Just curious.

I think I am going to pick all the green tomatos from the garden today. I am trying to get the garden put to rest befor we leave for Hawaii () so a little at a time. I am building a new bed for my strawberries this year. I am also hoping to build a bed for asparagus and artichokes. We are expanding the garden this fall too. Hopefully next year I will have enough room to plant corn. I havent been able to do that without loosing room for all the other things I wanted to plant.

Well, I best go for now. Have a blessed day all!

Hi, I liked your post. It sent me to dreaming of mountains, snow and warm fires. Oklahoma hasn't cooled down yet. Anyway, I noticed we had some things in common like Creative Memories. Hope you have a great time in Hawaii. I'm totally jealous!

Winter

Hi Jamie,
I feel like a wimp! I asked my husband to pleeeease build a fire for me just the other morning, and I KNOW you certainly have colder fall mornings in your part of the country. Sounds like your husband will have meat for the freezer to go along with all the food you have put up for the winter. Blessings to you all. Aloha!
