How awful for him.  I know that this doesn't go on all the time...but I'm still happy that I homeschool.

My 7th grade Social Studies teacher did something similar to me.
Back then, the movie "10" was SUPER popular. SO, I braided and beaded my hair.
I was sitting in class, the bell rang (7th grade made me 13 years old). The teacher stands up from his desk, looks at me and says "well looks like we have to settle for a "5" instead of a 10". The kids ROARED with laughter.......I melted at my desk in humiliation. I can still see his face, see him laughing at me, and I can still hear the kids roaring in laughter...........it was horrible.

The power of words. It is amazing how powerful words are.

How wrong to do such a thing!!!

Labels can be so wrong. Everyone ALWAYS thought my brother would suceed in life - and my dh was a slacker in high school (very smart, he just didn't do any more than he had to). Now, my brother is a bum and my dh is an engineer.

I hope this young man is able to move past this....

p.s. Laura, that is dreadful! The things teachers get away with!!!!
