Homeschool Year RoundPosted on Wednesday 18 April 2007 at 7:15 AM in Homeschooling - Post CommentSince we homeschool year round, we are on a different schedule than most. We only school 4 days a week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. During the summer we go down to three days a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday with the entire month of August off (unless we need more time). I find that this schedule gives us the flexibility to take time off when needed, have longer holiday vacations etc. I also think it helps Boo retain what he's learned from school year to school year. This also allows us to bypass a lot of the review that the curriculum has at the beginning of the school year and really focus on the new concepts. If there are any drawbacks to this schedule it would be that the curriculum is based on a traditional school year so holiday related work doesn't always coincide with the holidays.Does Boo mind schooling all year? No, not really. Of course we've always done it that way and he really doesn't know any different. Besides, we are grooming him for adulthoold, and very few professions get the entire summer off...
