Georgia Aquarium Mourns Loss of Beluga Whale

Posted on Friday 5 January 2007 at 7:58 AM in Out and About - Post Comment

I read yesterday that the Georgia Aquarium had to euthanize Gasper, one of it's beluga whales. http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/newsroom/pressReleases/010207GasperUpdate.aspx

We were just there in November the day before Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time watching the beautiful beluga whales (one of my favorites) with our good friends. These are a few of the pictures I took (I know they aren't that great) while we watched them swim.

Sad Day

We toured the GA Aquarium last summer and my 5yo son was captivated by those Belugas. I think we even got to see Gasper there, before he got really sick. It was a very sad day around here when we got the news on the radio. I'm glad ya'll got to tour the Aquarium.....isn't God's design and creation humbling to comprehend? Denise

They are such beautiful creatures.

I have never been to GA, but they have them here in San Diego. So I have seen them at Sea World. I love watching them swim around and play with each other.
It is so sad when you are trying to help an animal and they just do not respond to treatment. I have had that happen to a dog just recently. Very heart breaking.
Have a great weekend!
