Drain Cleaner

1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup white vinegar
Boiling water

Pour baking soda down the drain. Add white vinegar and cover the drain, if possible. Let set for 5 minutes. Then pour a kettle of boiling water down the drain. (The vinegar and baking soda break down fatty acids into soap and glycerine, allowing the clog to wash down the drain.) Do not use this method if you have used a commercial drain opener and it may still be present in the drain.

Soft Scrub Cleaner

1/2 cup baking soda
liquid soap
5-10 drops antibacterial essential oil, such as lavender or tea tree

Pour baking soda into a bowl, and add enough liquid detergent to make a texture like frosting. Scoop the mixture onto a sponge, and wash the surface. This is the perfect recipe for cleaning the bathtub because it rinses easily and doesn’t leave grit. Store in an airtight container.

Floor Cleaner

1/4 cup liquid soap
1/2 cup white distilled vinegar or lemon juice
2 gallons warm water

Combine the ingredients in a large plastic bucket. Use with a mop or sponge.

Microwave Cleaner

2 tbs. baking soda
1 cup water in microwavable bowl or cup

Cleans even the goopiest microwaves. Mix baking soda in water and place bowl in microwave. Microwave for 1 minute.

Refrigerator Cleaner

2 tbs. baking soda
1 qt. warm water

To clean exterior and interior walls, dissolve baking soda in warm water and wipe all surfaces. For stubborn spots, rub with baking soda paste. Be sure to rinse with a clean, wet cloth.

Garbage Disposal Cleaner

1/2 lemon or orange rind

Run the rind through the disposal as needed to keep it smelling fresh.

Oven Cleaner

baking soda
water

Make a paste of baking soda and water. To use, first use a scouring brush to scratch off any burnt food/water spots. Then apply the paste and scrub.
