School Violence

Posted on Monday 2 October 2006 at 4:30 PM in Homeschooling - Post Comment

My heart is just sick and heavy with sorrow at all the violence that has been happening in schools across the country...the principal who was shot in Wisconsin, the teenage hostage who was shot in Colorado.  This morning I heard about a gunman taking Amish girls hostage at an Amish school near Lancaster.  Living in Amish country here in Indiana it just doesn't seem possible...but now it's obvious nobody is immune.  Even Canada isn't immune.  Even here.  Just this week our local news reported on two different schools where school employees are being charged with misconduct with students.  One was a 5th grade teacher.

It's awful and it seems to be getting worse, not better.  Add this to the list of reasons why hubby and I chose to homeschool.   Please pray for these families involved in these horrible situations.  Pray for our country.

Oh, how I agree! These stories break our hearts. You must be in our area - I see your link to the SB Tribune. We're in the SB/Mishawaka area. Have you found a homeschool type group or co-op in this area to be helpful? I have a 3-year old, so we're not official homeschoolers yet, but I'm looking for a good supportive group to get involved in. God bless you.
