Third Year Third Week Of Homeschool Update

This is our third week of school and thing seem to be going well. Boo seems more enthused about the work we are doing and is starting to have more fun with it. He's also getting his work done without much hassle. He gets distracted very easily so I really have to keep an eye on him.
The one thing I really don't like is the Switched on Schoolhouse for Spanish. I don't care for the program at all...I don't recommend it. I'm going to keep using it, but if I really feel it isn't working we are going to switch to something else. I heard that Rosetta Stone is available to use at some libraries so I'm going to check that out. Our library probably won't have it since it is very small, but maybe the one in Fort Wayne will. If not, I do know that the Chattanooga, TN library has it available online and anyone anywhere can get an online membership. I believe it's only $30 and you have access to all the languages. www.lib.chattanooga.gov
I've needed to stay more organized also and Homeschool Tracker Software has been a real blessing. They offer a free version and a Plus version with lots more features for for $35. I used the free version for a while last year and it really didn't do much for me. This year I really needed help so after reading in one of my groups about all the people who really liked the plus version, I went ahead and spent the money. I'm glad I did. It's working out well and they have a great message board with tons of great ideas and help in using the program. It does take some time to learn it, but once you learn it you'll like it a lot. http://www.homeschooltracker.com/
Everything else is going great. Except for the Switched on Schoolhouse everything seems to be a great fit. I never cease to be amazed that I really can educate my son myself...and that he really is learning. All praise goes to God.
