So did I change my diet after that wonderful experience? Not hardly!!! In fact the enemy, began to tell me that nothing had changed. I was still fat. I was still overeating. I still did NOT want to make time to go to the gym. NOTHING had changed!Then as I just kept casting those thoughts away, something else did beginn to change. I realized….. “Ok. I can stay just like I am and God will love me. But I do not want to stay like this. I never have liked the results of the undisciplined life.” And so the changes started ever so gradually. The first thing - my friend and I began to covenant together to pray for each other's victory in this area of our life. Then another week passed and something else happened (I can not right now share this because it involves others), and I knew NOW was the time to get serious; to commit to myself, with the Lord’s help, to get this weight off and to make the necessary changes, mentally and physically, to become the fit person I can be… that I am destined to be.Of course, in the back of my mind a few unredeemed dust balls roll around saying “you know you will only do this for a FEW days and then you’ll be right back to your old habits.” But if I fall I am determined to get back up again this time. I must learn to love myself more than my bad habits. Coffee and chocolate are nice….But not as wonderful as a fit healthy body. Not as wonderful as building self-control in my life which is an important fruit of the Spirit to bear. Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (NIV) Feel free to pray for my strength and most of all my thinking/self-control.
