I was reading in our newspaper today that we have a very high population of Bald Eagles in this area. Who knew?!! I am a big bird watcher and seeing a Bald Eagle is definitely on my 2006 "to see" list. I guess there are a couple of nests near a lake about 20 minutes from me. I will be planning a trip up there and take my camera, binoculors, and sketch pad. There are a lot of trout in that lake because they stock it, so I may get to see one swooping down for it's dinner! I'll keep you updated on this.
My youngest son got me two bird feeders for Christmas. I have two bird feeders now, but one is really starting to fall apart. I'm patched and painted it several times, but with our dry weather, wood doesn't hold up for too many years. I was so thrilled because the new feeders are made of cedar, so will hold up so much better. I'm doing so much work on my computer in my bedroom for our lesson plans and my writing, I'm thinking I'll put one up outside my sliding glass door so I can watch them as I'm working and writing.
I've heard the coyotes out here for the past few weeks. We have to be so careful because we have a pug and a toy poodle. Coyotes consider these to be delicacies! I know they also love cats because I lost our two cats to coyotes a few years ago. My cat, Sweetie, is never allowed to even put one paw out the door because I couldn't bear to go through the loss of my cat again. We go outside with the dogs always because we are afraid of having this happen with them. Our Cocker Spaniel is larger, but we worry about him, too. We always watch our pets as they are so precious!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year in 2006 and God Bless you all!! |
