We've had absolutely lovely weather here. It got really, really cold last week and I thought the house would never get warm, but this only lasted about 3 days and then it warmed up to a delicious 60 degrees! It's cold enough to have my free-standing heater on that looks like a wood stove, but not so cold that we just are freezing.
We got all our Christmas decorations up. My youngest put up all kinds of lights in the yard and it looks great. It's a lot of work, but he loves doing it. He's my outside child. My oldest put up the tree and I helped him with the lights, but he did the rest. It looks really beautiful. He's my inside child. Funny how our children are so different, but wonderful! I put up a smaller tree in the living room. We finally have that room painted and the furniture in. I only have to put away a few things and it will be complete. I have it decorated for Christmas, too, and I'm so pleased with how it looks. I have an even smaller tree to put up in the kitchen and I've always wanted to put little kitchen tools on it, but will probably have to wait another year. I think cookie cutters on a ribbon would be cute hanging on the tree, so may try that.
My in-laws are coming over today for Pinto beans, corn bread and pumpkin pie. I'll put out a tray of veggies ahead of time so we can get our veggies! Pinto beans are my hubby's absolute favorite, so he's thrilled we're having this meal. I'm using the ham bone from our Thanksgiving ham to flavor the beans, so I'm sure they will be delicious!
More laundry and cleaning awaits. I'm also going to work on Christmas gifts. I need to get my Christmas cards done! Every year I say I'm going to be like my sister and get them out the day after Thanksgiving, but I never do. My sis did give me a hand this year, however, by sending me the labels for everyone on our Christmas card list! Wasn't that wonderful? She's a smart cookie and I'm so blessed to have her as my sister and my friend!! |
