Picking up the house

This afternoon the children and I picked up the house. There were toys and stuff in every room. We have a nice sized home with two levels plus a basement. It took us all working together two hours to get everything picked up and the floors vacuumed. I do have to give them credit because today they worked hard and rarely complained!! It's a constant struggle for me to keep the house picked up. I grow so tired having to stay on the children constantly throughout the day to put their stuff away. We go through these swings where the house will be picked up for a day or two, and then a mess again. Then, I'll get fed up and we'll pick up for several hours. I know we make more of a mess because we actually live and learn and work and play at home every day. The children don't leave to go to school and I don't leave to work. So, there is simply more living happening in our home.

A productive day

I'm determined to call today a productive day, even though I didn't do any housework and the house is a mess. Well, anything beyond doing dishes, picking up toys, taking out the trash, feeding the dogs...
