New to Blog from a wanna be homesteader

Hello! I've been so inspired reading your blogs in the last week. So, I thought I'd stick around and learn some from you all. :)

A little about me:
I'm a Christian stay at home, homeschooling mom to three children. Though I dream of wide open spaces, we live in the suburbs in Colorado. I'm passionate about The Sacraments, homebirthing, breastfeeding, positive discipline, and staying home to raise my children.

I love to create something out of nothing -- to crochet a hat from simple yarn, to bake a loaf of bread from scratch, to create felt from wool roving, to clean my home with simple ingredients like soap or vinegar. People have asked me why bother? Why bother crocheting a hat when you can buy one for $2.99? Why bother baking bread when you can buy a loaf. My response is "Because I can".

I'm convinced that my generation, though being in the information age, has less knowledge and wisdom than previous generations. I'm irritated that the older women in my family never taught me any useful skills such as making soap or embroidery. So, here I am, endeavoring to find what has been lost. To gain the skills that a woman, not two generations ago, would have learned as a child.

I also must apologize upfront because although I'm happy to share my thoughts will all you invisible people out there, my blog is for me. Many of my entries will be simply a listing of what I did during the day. I'm looking for an encouragement for myself since most days it feels like I'm just spinning my wheels. I'll also write about new things I learn towards simplifying and homesteading and homekeeping skills.
