Yesterday when my daughter Miss B. came home from school she asked if I would take her to a second hand store so she could buy some records. She has an old turn-table and likes to buy records for it. I guess they are coming back....sort of. It's one of those things that those of us old enough to have had a turn-table in the first place won't ever really understand. Anyhoo...I had to go to goodwill. I had no intention of going there. I had decided that I have so much stuff that I cannot go to goodwill anymore. I need to stop getting more stuff. It was a hard decision for me...but because I didn't want to let Miss B. down I had to go. While I was there I bought a small drinking glass with blueberries on it. It was crying out to me and it was only .99 cents. I also bought another cookbook. Recipes for a dinner party circa 1962. You should see the pictures. Those poor ladies had no idea what changes were coming their way. They were on the brink of another world! I thought I was being really good. I had only spent $2.97 including Miss B.'s record (the Carpenter's) And then, just as we were leaving I saw it. A milk glass floor lamp. It's beautiful. I've never seen anything like it before in my life. It was only $3.99. It's in my living room. Sometimes you just have to give up the no more stuff rule because certain things are more than just stuff. Here are some pictures. I tried to find something like it on line but I couldn't find anything anywhere near. It is a floor lamp that stands about 4 feet tall. the bottom picture is when the light is on. You can't really see it but it sort of glows. Oh my it is beautiful. Afterwards we went out to dinner together. We laughed and laughed and had the best of times together. I love that girl. |
