Unaswered Prayer?

02:02, Friday, November 21, 2008 .. Posted in Quotes to ponder .. 3 comments .. Link All of us have prayers we raise up to heaven that "seem" to appear go unanswered as of yet...... some of us have been praying for something for days, months and yes even years....... does God not hear us? This quote is for you.........and me. :) ~ gloria ~
" God's timing is not ours to command. If we do not start the fire with the first strike of our match, we must try again. God does hear our prayer, but He may not answer it at the precise time we have appointed in our own minds. Instead, He will reveal Himself to our seeking hearts, though not necessarily when and where we may expect. Therefore we have a need for perseverence and steadfast determination in our life of prayer. In the old days of flint, steel and brimstone matches, people had to strike the match again and again, perhaps even dozens of times, before they could get a spark to light their fire, and they were very thankful they finally succeeded. Should we not exercise the same kind of perverence and hope regarding heavenly things? When it comes to faith, we have more certainty of success than we could ever have had with flint and steel for we have God's promises as a foundation. May we, therefore never despair. God's time for mercy will come -- in fact, it has already come, if our time for believing has arrived. Ask in faith, without wavering, but never cease to petition the King simply because He has delayed His reply. Strike the match again and make sparks fly! Yet be sure to have your tinder ready, for you will get a fire before long. " ~~ Charles H. Spurgeon ~~ It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Oh my goodness. I woke this morning to find SNOW SNOW SNOW all over the place. I am just gathering the harvest for Thanksgiving and already we have snow. Geesh! It is beautiful though, to look out at and see all the horse hoof prints and doggie prints all over. I bet if I looked close enough I would even find prints from lil mousies. I hated to have to go out in it but I did. I had groceries to get, things to take to the postoffice, and meds to pick up at the pharmacy. I am so proud of my grocery shopping today as I actually looked at the sales paper and with the help of coupons, a $25 gift certificate and a little planning, I was able to get $134.00 worth of groceries for $62.00. Now for some of you that may not be a big deal but for ME, the quick spender, it really is a mile stone. I am trying so hard to focus more and keep our grocery bill down to the minimun. Today, I DID GOOD! I am home again and nice and warm, viewing the snow from my favorite place.... INSIDE! I pray you are all warm too. Have a blessed day and drop a comment or two. heheee

01:28, Friday, November 21, 2008 .. Posted in A Thankful heart .. 2 comments .. Link I have been so busy this past week......from schooling the children ( there are 8 being schooled now!) and tending the home fires... that I have not had a moment to sit and blog.... and I also went into the city this week and that always takes a good chunk of my time ..........in the midst of the busyness, we have also had time to sing our praises to the Lord and rest in His beautiful promises in HIS word! As we enter into this week of Thanksgiving, I like to take time to remember those brave and faith filled souls who came from so far away to establish a colony where they could worship their God freely without being "dictated" how they should do so. They believed the Word of God was to be taught freely and not under the "banner" or "control" of some church........ oh, how I can relate to these brave souls! My journey to the Lord was somewhat of a pilgrimage in many ways! My family travelled over many miles to arrive to a place where God could teach us and show us His ways. So I do have a tender spot in my heart for those pilgrims who came to America searching for freedom to worship to their heart's content! This past week we have been learning a new hymn to sing for our Bible devotions. We recently learned the beautiful hymn: As the Deer.... if you don't know this lovely song, you so do need to become familiar with it's beautiful melody and even more beautiful lyrics! I have been hearing my children humming and singing this lovely song........ As the Deer Music & Lyrics by Martin Nystrom As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after you. You alone are my heart's desire and I long to worship You. Chorus: You alone are my strength , my shield; To you alone my spirit yield. You alone are my heart's desire and I long to worship You. You're my friend and You are my Brother, even though You are a King. I love you more than any other, so much more than anything. Chorus: I want You more than gold or silver, only You can satisfy. You alone are the real joy giver, and the apple of my eye. Chorus Jesus really is the real JOY giver -- and the apple of my eye! He is what I long for and I need Him like my body needs water! I long to worship Him! I hope in this coming week ~ that you too will find time to worship the JOY giver!! Praising Him! gloria

10:28 AM, Friday, November 21, 2008 .. Posted in From Our House to Yours .. 1 comments .. Link We are living here in Linden, or should I say south of Linden. Its beautiful here in fall but boy it sure feels more like winter already. Tonights low is 15 and we have been 2 weeks with no furnace due to the electrical fire in it . We have rented a 14x60 2 bedroom 2 bath. Now imagine me trying to sort through all the stuff that we brought with us from our 2200 sq ft house, after getting rid of half of it. We only brought our beds and my sewing stuff and my soap stuff and my homeschool stuff, crib, changing table, porta crib, high chair, fold up tables and 2 folding chairs, 2 bins of toys that were left of the girls ( baby dolls and tea set, little people house and farm, noahs ark and play set.) All the bathroom, kithen stuff and what food I could bring with us. I am sorta set on baking supplies for a month maybe less and it seems that I only run low on milk and meat, potatoes and those things that come from a garden. Since we were moving we didnt really plant a huge garden as we wouldnt be there to can things. We left for TN Aug. 2nd. I did have meat in the freezer but it was not able to travel down with us , what I tried to bring spoiled on the way down though packed good. Yes I brought my electric sewing machine and serger and vacume and our computers. ( 2 desktops and one laptop with wifi capabilities) Well the point is we thought we were coming down with less and yet in the RV and in this smaller home it seems like alot of stuff. So what is really needed anyways ? Well as I sort through it all much is going in boxes to be sold. To raise money for other needed things. ie. land, cabin or small home, wood cookstove. After all that was the idea, to move here and eventually get land and homestead more then we had been in NY. Somehow living the countrylife no longer seems like homesteading once you have visited many here that life off the grid and have built their own home, rustic as they are, they are home and boy they seem nice to me. What is life all about anyways ? Was it about nice rooms with painted and papered walls ? Was it about having a nice bathroom with all the fixtures and such ? No, it is nice to see an outhouse now with paper holder, a light in there and ya know what ? copies of countryside and a real toiet seat !!!! Fancy huh !!!! Some here have solar, some are living no electric substitute at all and each encourages us to strive toward whatever the Lord tells us is for us to do and each gives "My use to be DH who said we will never go non-electric and we will never live like the Amish" A new vision for our lives. The first goal was to live on what money we do have or can make and live on less or with less. Unless it can make you more money or serves a purpose that is useful, it has no real value here. ( I will admit I have my country tins, crock, and rooster things with me, but they serve a purpose too. My rose bowl and pitcher and my tea set will be used not just sit on a shelf for looks anylonger. Here DH has a shed to keep his tools in and we can keep our goats here. All the new ways are blessings and those we meet are the best blessings in our new life here in Linden TN. The likemindedness is in the fact that Jesus died for each of us and though we are each different in our degree of living the life of plain and simple living, we are all sharing the fact that Jesus died for us to save our souls. Wensday night we attended a local sing, the glorious sound of our blended voices while we blend our lives in friendship I am sure is the most wonderful thing to the Lord God. Blessed to be in His Child Love Linda Faithful Acres Homestead

The week following this 2008 presidential election has left many feeling as if they have just walked through a cold mortuary filled with the post mortem remains of a once beautiful and blessed America. I’ve seen the solemn expressions of prophecy teachers and anointed preachers who have spoken since the election. I’ve seen the down cast faces of faithful believers who have passionately prayed for the healing and redemption of this nation. Many are disheartened and may even feel as if God has not heard their prayers. David Wilkerson wrote in his book, God’s Plan To Protect His People In The Coming Depression that “Every serious follower of Christ has to realize America deserves the full fury of God’s wrath”. History is filled with examples of God’s judgment upon wicked nations. With the election of Obama, Christians in America see the ‘writing on the wall’ and know that God’s judgment on America is right at hand. I do believe that America is about to be judged. However, God wants to remind His children that He is still on the throne. Billy Graham once made the statement “God is unchanging in His love. He loves you. He has a plan for your life. Don’t let the newspaper headlines frighten you. God is still sovereign; He’s still on the throne.” God has not changed. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I change not.” None of the events of this old sinful world has taken God by surprise. Multitudes of people are making preparations because they expect hard times are on the way--storing food and water; buying guns and ammunitions, etc. What preparations, if any, should we as Christians be making? Christians should be preparing their hearts. In Luke 21:28, Jesus tells the disciples “...then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh”. If you’re a backslidden Christian or if your love for Jesus has grown cold--then beloved, it is high time to get right with God. James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” My mother used to use the term ‘straddling the fence’ when she talked about lukewarm Christians. Brothers and sisters look around you and open your eyes. Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed”. It’s time to get off the fence! Stand up and be the man or woman of God that He would have you be. TO READ THE REST OF THE ARTICLE GO HERE Simpler Times

7:29 AM, Friday, November 21, 2008 .. Posted in Points to Ponder .. 1 comments .. Link We have a channel on our Satellite called RFD-TV--its rural televison and I have recently discovered it airs the show Hee Haw--anyone remember that? Maybe I am just giving away my age--LOL--Anyway we have been watching it as a family as it comes on--We watched it last night--an episode from 1969(yes I was alive back then)-- the humor was clean--the prop was simple--the singing meant something--and it was good clean fun--I long for that simpler time--back then no one had heard of a drive by except to say--"I drove by and saw ya on the porch'"-- Going out to eat was something that was a treat--women still for the most part stayed home to raise the youngun's they had--people still wrote letters back home--I remember every Saturday my mom sitting at the kitchen table writing a letter to her mom and letting her know we were all ok since we lived in Dodge City Kansas and my grandma lived back here in Arkansas--We lived on a farm and my dad was a farm hand and worked the farm for rent--People barely had phones and televisions--little lone gaming machines, computers and all the other gadgets we have today--and you know what--people worked harder--work meant something--very few back then got to sit on their bums all day and push a pencil--people worked hard--Technology has brought about changes since the 1960's--some good and some bad--some I enjoy--some we as a family choose to not allow into our lives--some have a purpose--some really don't--I would love just one week to step back into that time and bask in the simplicity of it all--yes it was harder in some ways--but it was also a time when families enjoyed being together--and Sundays were the Lords day--not just another day off work or school to sleep in--I know I cannot turn back the hands of time--but I can sit here and enjoy those old nostalgic shows like Hee Haw, I love Lucy--Brady Bunch--and take a trip down memory lane and if only in my own mind --for a moment recapture a simpler time! ~Kris Daily Devotion 325

Giving Thanks
O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. Psalm 117:1
When did you last take time out to really thank God for the many wonderful things He has done for you? Wives, do you really thank God for your husband, or do you take him for granted? Stop and think what a blessed wife you are. You and your husband are Christians.
What a blessing that you can rest assured of your husband’s whereabouts. You can tell others where he is, and he goes where he says he will go.
More than that, you have someone you can look up to. Always remember to pray for your husband. It is always a comfort to me whenever I get home from work and I hear my wife say, “I prayed for you today.”
Husbands, have you thanked God for your wife lately, even today? Sometimes we take them for granted. Do not forget that she is not your slave, but your wife. Ask yourself what you would amount to if it were not for your wife. Really, what kind of man would you be? Brethren, God gave them to us. Let us be thankful for God’s blessings and really appreciate them.
Parents, when was the last time you stopped to thank God for your children? The Bible says that children are a heritage from the Lord. Children are really fun to have around. But sometimes we find ourselves sighing over them. Why is he or she like this? Why can’t they be like so and so’s children? Let us not allow these evil thoughts into our minds but instead give God thanks and praise for our children. Pray earnestly for them. Let us be godly role models for them.
Mark Meighn, Belize City, Belize
Let us live lives of thankfulness.

Thanksgiving TroubleDo you think a husband should talk to his wife about who is coming to Thanksgiving dinner before anyone else(his mom)?? I found out from my mother-in-law that my husbands cousin , her hubby and 3 children are coming to dinner. I asked hubby why did he not tell me me? He told me I was making a big deal over nothing. I said no ,but as your wife I should find out from you not your mom leaving a message as to who is coming to dinner. As it is his mom is telling me when she will be here staying in a hotel , for how many days and when hubbies grandma will be here(our house) and how many days she will stay with us for me to care for !! I can not care for his grandma by my self, the girls will have to help. My leg is still broken after 11 months, I have to have more surgery, I walk with a limp and am not anywhere near as strong as I was. How am I to pick up and carry his grandma in and out of the tub to giver her a bath and pick her up when she falls?? I love his grandma , and will do my best. Oh well, God Bless, mj Last Chances!I apologize for the lateness of this post and for not replying to comments, but I was quite ill all last night, which was dreadfully unpleasant. Vomiting every 30 mintues for two-three hours is NOT fun (sorry for gory details, but there you have it!). Thank you to all who were praying for me. I’m feeling much better not, but still a little under the weather. I hope you will humour me by reading and doing the below. The Homeschool Blog Award polls are closing tomorrow night so you only have a little while before you chance to vote for your favoutires is over! The Countdown has begun and I would be absolutely thrilled if you would go vote for a few of my favourites.
Then my younger sister of the accomplished age of 15 has been nominated for Best Teen Gal Blog, and while there were many lovely young ladies in this category, I must say she is the best (yes, I’m a little biased!). On Lady Rachel’s site, City on a Hill, you can find all sorts of wonderful reads for young ladies and adults… she writes on life on a homestead, life of simplicity, recipes, her spiritual journey and trails, and so much more (You should see her categories!). She is completely worth your vote! Many of you are acquainted with the Feelin’ Feminine sit, home of the Feelin’ Feminine challenge, which was nominated for Best Teen Group Blog. This site is a safe haven for those looking to be in the company of other likeminded-ladies who desire to fulfill the modest and feminine role of the Biblical-Woman. On here you will find articles from older women, young wives, young single women, stay-at-home-daughters, and young ladies. There is something here for everyone. We had a lovely surprise visit and promotion of FF by Mr. Jennie Chancey of LAF - stay tuned for an interview with her! There are many more, but these are the three that I hope you can take a few minutes and go vote for. If you vote and promote GGM on your blog today you are entered in a chance at a great prize (make sure you leave them a comment)! AFTER voting for the above leave me a comment letting me know and you will get an EXTRA entry in the $25 Christa Taylor giveaway I’m hosting and if you post about voting for my choices you will get yet ANOTHER entry! If you don’t have a blog that’s alright, you can email, facebook, twitter, or spread the word on other social networks instead. I have well over 400 subscribers to this blog so I know at least HALF of you will read this before the polls close. PLEASE VOTE! Here’s a quick run by of the rest, if you have a few extra minutes - I know they would appreciate your votes too!
When you’re done voting don’t forget your official “I Voted” Sticker for your blog just like one you’d get at the actual elections! Haha! Blessings!
Nesting Mission-Day 3-Master Bedroom/Bathroom-Updated
Posted by Sara
01:56, Thursday, November 20, 2008 .. Posted in Getting Organized .. 0 comments .. Link I'm so thankful to say that day 3 of my nesting mission is an easy one. The last couple of days, although so rewarding, have also been very tiring. I cleaned my master bedroom and bathroom up several weeks ago, and have managed to keep it pretty well maintained. I learned how nice it was to go to bed in such an inviting and clean room. As I shared in my previous post, the newly cleaned living/dining room is such a blessing, and so is the kitchen, and my beloved rewarded me with taking me to my favorite resteraunt, which only spurred me on to do even more. So on to today's goals. As I said, today will be an easy one, the bedroom only taking me at most 15 minutes to finish. The rest of the day will be spent resting and doing the regular every day stuff.... ~Regular Routines ~Basic Homeschool with kids ~Maintain clean rooms-Kitchen, Living/Dining room ~Clean Master Bedroom/Bathroom from top to bottom ~Projects-today I'm going to do whatever I feel like I can get to. I may just work on the tea towel, and if I feel up to it, I will work on the girl's dresses. ~Since I got to eat out last night, we will be having the chicken potato chowder and a side salad for dinner tonight. And here is the before pictures of my master bedroom/bathroom...
The view from the door that leads to the kitchen. To the left is the bathroom, to the right, hubby and my closet. All that needs doing from this view is putting shoes in the closet, making my bed, and picking up hubby's dirty laundry.
This is beside the bed looking towards the kitchen door. That is the baby's pack n play. I have a basket of laundry needing to be folded there on my dresser and just some general straightening.
And here's a small view of my small bathroom. Everthing needs to be wiped down. All the clothes and towels in the tub need to be taken to the laundry room and that should take care of this room. I'll update when I'm all done, either tonight or tomorrow. Have a blessed day! ***Daily Update*** My room only took me a few minutes to get done and the rest of my day was spent just resting and maintaining the other rooms I've already cleaned. So here's my room after it was all cleaned up.
The stuff you see piled on the baby bed is my bag to take to the hospital and also my sweater. I straightened everything up, took care of the giant basket full of dirty clothes, and cleaned the bathroom, all of which took me about 15 minutes, except for the laundry, which I worked on throughout the day.
