A wood cutting and a summer kitchen

Well, I didn't mean to stay this long without an update, but life has been busy.  I was very surprised to have so many warm welcome.  Thank you ladies!

Last week we finaly found a good wood cook stove.  We traded a stainless steel food preparation table and a deep sink in exchange for a big, white enameled Home Comfort stove.  We went to our friends' house for a visit this week and brought the stove back with us; it took lots of effort to unload it.  Finally I will have a summer kitchen!

Last Tuesday we went to a wood cutting in the local Plain community.  It was some close friends' turn to have their wood cut.  Here's how it works:  Just about everyone in the community gets together at the family's home (about 50 or 60 people).  They come by buggies and horses and there are a few farm trailers.  Ther older men bring their chainsaws and they are responsible for cutting down the trees.  Next another group of men cut the branches and trees in sections.  Then the younger men split the wood with axes, another group loads the wood on trailers and bring it to the wood shed and around the house.  Last, but not least, the women and children unload and stack the wood.  I didn't get to help with the wood because my baby is so young, and our friend has a 5 week old son and a 20 months old daughter so my hands were full being a babysitter.  It's amazing to see how in just a few hours enough wood was cut for the entire year.

A visit to Lobelville, Tennessee always leave me with a contented heart!

I just went back to re-read this and see your stove is a Home Comfort. That is the one we are looking at from a friend. What do you think of it? Is it fairly easy to use for someone without a clue?
