Plain modesty for Girls

font-family: Georgia, verdana, arial, serif; 01:37 PM, Tuesday, December 5, 2006 .. Posted in Plain modesty for girls .. 10 comments .. Link
In the previous entry I mentionned my little sewing business.  The dresses, aprons and caps I sew would be suitable for any occasions.  The dresses are not fancy but they are very becoming, practical and feminine.  An apron or pinafore is almost always worn over the dresses to protect from stains and as a little girl matures it provides more modesty.

Here's a sketch of the dresses, one with the pinafore.

Here are two pictures of baby with dress and pinafore.  The dress has the lower neckline option.

Simple prairie dress with gathered sleeves and skirt

Modest dress with straight sleeves and gathered skirt, worn with a canning apron.  This cap is the gathered cap.

Prairie dress with pinafore.  Baby wears the fitted cap.

So here's the list:

Girl's dresses, long or shorter gathered sleeves (a straight sleeve is also an option)

Sizes 3 months to 2 years old - 16.00
Sizes 3 years to 6 years old - 20.00
Sizes 8 years to 12 years old - 24.00

Pinafore with gathered skirt and two buttons at the bodice back

Sizes 3 months to 2 years old - 15.00
Sizes 3 years to 6 years old - 18.00
Larger sizes can be made.  Please enquire.

Simple A-Line apron, similar to Friends canning apron but with a higher neckline and wider straps, with two buttons at the back.

Sizes 1 to 4 years - 12.00
Sizes 6 to 12 years - 14.00

Plain apron with full front and back bib, gathered front skirt and a choice of side button or back ties.

Sizes 6 years to 12 years - 18.00

Local Amish veils that ties under the neck and at the back of the head are 5.00 postage paid.  The colors available are white, ivory, black and dark blue.  Girls' size is available at the same price.

Baby caps are 7.00.  Choose between the gathered cap with ties or wider brim (as shown in the picture) or plain cap.

All seams are serged or bound for a clean finish.  The prices quoted are with my fabric but if you want to use yours please deduct 25% from the price of the garment.  Shipping is extra and I only charge actual cost.

PS: prices were revised due to the distance we have to drive to purchase fabric.

Hi I am 13 years old and I think the style of your dresses are beautiful and the price is very reasonable. Good luck with your sewing business.

What sweet dresses. You may be hearing from us soon. We have three little girls and the sewing is more than I can keep up with.

Your daughter is just precious. I plan on learning to sew this year. As soon as I get us all unpacked from our move, I will learn to thread my machine. I know I can sew a straight stitch. That is where my knowledge ends. Will you be my long distance mentor?

Your baby girl looks so sweet in her dresses. My daughter who is almost seven is begging for a dress like that :) I think you have a nice talent.

They're beautiful dresses. I'd love to dress my girls in something similar. I used to sew for them, but I just haven't been able to since we added child #3! I know many moms do, but something had to "go", and it was the sewing. Maybe I should check out your patterns.
