All Things New

• Tuesday, July 31, 2007 - Thank you and our day

I want to thank you all for your comments and your sweet welcome!  What a wonderful and supportive group you are!  Thank you, thank you for your encouragement:)

Wow, what a day.  Hubbie was off today, which was such a great gift.  We had some time to talk and visit.  He's been a tad busier than usual lately.  We had to load and deliver three pieces of our furniture to the upholsterer to be redone.  We have put that off for way too long.  I can't wait to get them back!  I have been on a fabric search for those pieces for such a long time.  I love the loveseat fabric and like the chair fabric, but it will do just fine.  We moved into this fixer uper 2 years and too much $$ to mention ago;)  I know it will feel a bit more like home when we are finished with the renovations.

My dd was not feeling well today.  She was awake with a really high fever during the night and upset stomach.  The fever seems to have broken now.  I have been diffusing essential oils  (anti-viral/anti-bacterial ones) all day and applying some to her tummy in hopes to alleviate some of that.  She does seem better this evening.  Thank you Lord!!

Our newest herd member, a darling Tennessee Walking Horse that we rescued from neglect, is making strides towards healing this week.  I am so pleased with his progress.  He nickers at me now when he sees me and stands at liberty to be groomed.  He is still a bit uncertain, but by far better:)  I still need to think of a name for him!  I am thinking Caspian, what do you think?  Here he is.  He weighed 760 pounds when we bought him here.  I think he has gained some this week.

This is my 85 year old Grandfather with him at his barn.  He initially bought him from a place with about 5 of these guys on a dry lot.  Pawpaw is incredible, still riding daily!

Isn't he sweet.

Blessings to you all~

• Monday, July 30, 2007 - beginning again

Well, I should be ashamed of myself....I have had this blog for several months and haven't done a thing.

My confession is, I am a terrible blogger...but I am compelled to keep trying.

We have had a busy and sad week.  One of our rescue horses had to be euthanized.  He was my buddy and I loved him dearly.  It was an anguishing decision that had been coming for over a year.  We did everything in the equine world to help him, but in the end our wonderful vet helped us to clearly see that he was suffering and we could not abide that.

We are gearing up to begin school again.  I can't even believe I just typed that.  It seems like May just left us and now we are entering August.  Does anyone else feel like they are holding on to life like the end of a runaway kite string?  To say time flies just doesn' t do it for my emotions at present.  It's somewhat like saying the Eiffel tower is big.  I am determined to slow down this school year, not rush or press the children to my time schedule and enjoy loving and learning with what  is around us each day.  Our focus on character will be greater this year.  As will our continuing focus on family relationships and service to others.  We will use FIAR and Beyond as we always do, but I am also pulling from My Father's World again.  And, we will continue with our Neurodevelopmental program.

Once I figure out how to post pictures, we took a really cool one of a leaf with a spider sac found on it by one of my boys this week.  We looked at it under the microscope and it was SO cool!

Amazingly, I did figure it out.  Isn't that interesting?
