Our woodstove is installed (finally!) - and we had our first fire in it tonight. We have a little to learn about getting it adjusted right, but it sure is fantastic! What a great feeling to know that if the power goes out, we will still have heat! Here is Rod building the first fire...
The dog seems to like it...
And one more picture of just the stove and hearth:

I can just imagine sitting by the warmth of the fire. Oh, how cozy! So glad you have an alternative to heat your home.
It looks beautiful. I love the slate too. Just so homey. I can imagine having tea with you there!
Much love to you dear sister!

Hello from the Commonwealth of Virginia,
I am impressed with your "alternative heat", and I love the slate behind it--It really is beautiful. I kind of wish I was your dog lying right next to that warm fire. Our heating system is all messed up and we are having it worked on for the 4th or 5th time today. So, I am sitting here wrapped in a fleece blanket-typing. Oh well.....
I am sure the heat is wonderful, but having a back up heating source gives parents a peace of mind, as well, no matter what state ya live in. :)
I enjoy reading your blog. God Bless!
Sincerely,
Sharon

Finally!! huh? Aw but isn't it a great feeling!? I know, I love your wood burner! Now the trick is to not run out of nice dry firewood!! lol
Blessings, Jennifer

What a beautiful place for your stove. It looks like a good woodburning stove too. If they're built good, they are great to have.
I think alaska is a wonderful place and I would love to learn more about it. I will have to keep checking back to your blog now that I know it is here! It's so fascinating reading your blogs so far!
Good luck with your spring fever and planting too. Pretty soon you won't need that wood stove. At least for a little while!
