Woodstove Hearth Progress

8:17 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2008 .. Posted in All in a Days Work .. 5 comments .. Link

We picked up our riser and hearth yesterday from Alaska Hearth Products.  Rod decided today that he would put it together and get it setup, hopefully saving us some money when the rest of the parts are in and the guy is able to install everything.  He did a great job...it was a bit of work getting the thing in the door.  I don't know how much it weighs, but I'm guessing 300 pounds?  And it was just me and him to get it in.  We put the stove on top just to see how it is going to look.  It will need to go outside and get scrubbed and painted.  We will also have the same rock up the two walls behind the stove...can't wait to see how it all comes together.

oh, how pretty! I want a stove such as that - only, where would I put it???? and, I live in a desert - where would I find wood? sigh....

MorningSunshine:
It has been a chore to fit it into our living room - our home is just 800 sq. ft. This is one of the reasons we got rid of our television. Yes, you would need a cheap source of wood to make it worth it I think :o)
