Working in the Garden

9:15 PM, Tuesday, May 8, 2007 .. Posted in Gardening .. 3 comments .. Link

I have accomplished quite a bit the past week out in the garden.  Today was a beautiful day, so I went in to work early and left a couple hours early so I could work on the veggie garden.  I finished weeding and turning two raised beds.  I also began clearing out the strawberry runners that had rooted in my pathway.  I potted up 20 of the biggest ones - I may decide to start a new bed for them.  I need to read more on how to keep the bed producing - I don't get nearly enough berries.  There are enough to snack on fresh ones, but not enough to make a dessert or jam!

Here is the veggie garden before...

And here is what it looks like tonight....

The far bed is my strawberries, which I need to weed and thin.  The next bed will be onions, the next potatoes, and the one with the red plastic mulch will be tomatoes.  You can see some of my red current bushes in the foreground.  I will be adding covers to the beds to try to get more production out of our short, cool season.  We are concentrating on just a couple of crops, but trying to get enough for the whole year.

Here is my side garden before...

And here it is after some work - moved a few plants around and got some planted that I had bought last year, but never got in the ground!  I also added bark mulch which really gives it a clean look.

YOU dear are a busy little girl!!
Your gardens look wonderful! There is something totally satisfying at the end of a day when you are exhausted, covered in dirt, and have a task completed!!
May God Bless your garden to overabundance!!

Your garden is really coming along, Michelle. I should have taken some before pictures of mine. Keep upthe good work.
Many blessings,
