Hoping to Sell at Craft Fair

9:39 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2007 .. Posted in Crafts .. 1 comments .. Link

It has been a long time since I've sold things at a craft fair - 10 years or more.  Well, I've been thinking alot about doing it again.  The other day I saw that the Nugget Mall will be having a craft fair on March 17 & 18.  So yesterday I decided that I would do some quilting and see how many items I can complete in the next couple weeks and if all goes well, I will sign up for a table.  I pieced together the top of a baby quilt (41" x 41") and need to add borders, back and quilt.  This morning I took the scraps and made a mini one (10" x 10") just like the bigger one - it also is just the pieced part right now - needs borders, backing and quilting.  But isn't it cute?

Do any of you sell quilts or crafts?  I'm looking for a little guidance on how to price items fairly...

Craft Fairs

I do or use to do about 40 craft shows a year. Last year only did about 10 of them. When pricing a product I figure out how much time it took me and materials. That might be a little harder for quilts. I make handmade soaps and toiletries so it is a lot more cost effective. I would suggest though figuring your cost for materials, how long it took you to make the quilt, how much you want to pay yourself and then see where you come out at. If it looks a little to high then maybe cut down the amount you pay yourself for the labor a bit. I am sure others might have some good suggestions as well. If you have any other questions you can email me as well I will be happy to help anyway I can.
Blessings,
Lydia
