Knitting & Crochet Projects

I'm working on this cable knit wool hat for myself.  This is my first try at the cable stitch and this hat has all sorts!  I've been working on it for a week now - it is slow going.  I'm just about half way done - then I will join the length into a tube and make the top.  My yarn is pretty fuzzy so the pattern isn't as defined as the hat in the instructions.

I'm the sort of person who loses interest quickly if I don't see significant progress.  So I decided to work on some Christmas presents for my nieces and nephew.  And why not try some scarves and hats!  So I picked up some yarn which was on sale at JoAnns and a big crochet hook and whipped out this scarf and hat for Jillian - all in a couple hours on Friday night!  Now that is progress - with the big, soft yarn and the big hook it went so fast!  I did the trim in Fun Fur - I think it turned out pretty cute!  And I actually might get them all done by Christmas - hopefully my hat will be done too...

Oh your hats are really great. Both of the projects look wonderful.. I love the pink one, and yours is really nice too! I am attempting to learn how to knit. It is not coming naturally to me.

I love the hat and scarf set - it is tooooo cute!! I am trying to teach myself to knit - I just haven't had much time lately to work on it - I think I am really going to like it - I want to take a few lessons as soon as I can. You are doing a great job!!!

Great job on both the hats and scarf. I like the fun fur added to the pink set. I too am trying to learn to knit, but I do much better with crochet. I am doing hats and scarves also for Christmas gifts. I am also working on a hobo bag for myself. But lately no time to work on them. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy your blog.

All I have to say is that you are one talented lady! I tried to teach myself to crochet. Not my thing. My dd wants me to teach her how to knit. I am willing to try anything. So we will be try that out soon. Do you know any good knitting books? For beginners? One more question is knitting easier than crocheting?

I really enjoy your blog. Have a great weekend!
