Our New Shed is Done...Finally

Last weekend we bought a shed kit from Costco - a plastic setup - don't have to worry about it rotting in our abundant rain!  We started out by building a platform to secure it to and get it out of the wetness.  The shed is 8 ft by 8 ft, so we made the platform 8 ft by 10 ft so we would have a little deck area in front of the double doors.  We completed the platform last Sunday.  We definitely learned a lot about construction through our trial and errors.

The next day it rained, but we got out there and worked on getting the shed up anyway.  We worked from the time we got home from work until it got dark - of course this time of year that is only about two hours.  The walls were up and the rafters were assembled.  Tuesday we tackled it again in the rain - but at least we were working on the roof and got that up and were out of the weather.  A couple other nights were spent finishing up our tasks and by Friday we had it secured and ready to see if it was going to stand up through the 50 mph winds forcasted for that night.  We bought some lumber to finish up the front part of the platform - with a deck area.  Turned out pretty good!  I'll have to seal it with some Thompson's or something - if it is ever quits raining long enough...  We also picked out some shelving units and I put one of those together while Rod built the deck.  We usually struggle when we work on a project together, but this time things went very well.  Today we built the other shelving unit.  We also cleared off my "potting bench" which is a shelf unit that was my grandfathers - it has been stored outside under a plastic cover for about 7 years.  I had to clear off alot of spiders!  We started moving things in and getting it organized.  It will be so nice to have my tool box set up where I can actually get to it!  It has been a big project, but so, so worth it!

How proud I'd be of such a nifty shed. Congrats on the successful project.
