More about milk and egg choices...
I went to Fred Meyer today and was pleasantly surprised to find that they sell Organic Valley milk. And they have it by the gallon - for $5.29 - whole, 2%, 1% or skim. Yeah! I also found that Super Bear has Darigold milk for $4.49/gallon. This isn't organice or hormone free, but it is locally produced by farmers in WA, ID and OR and the company is owned by the farmers.
Eggs are still confusing - which kind to buy? Organic? Free range? Vegetarian? I don't care so much about the vegetarian diet. The organic ones haven't come from chickens treated with hormones, etc. Organic Valley are $4.37/dozen compared to the regular ones we buy now that are about $2.00/dozen. Again, a big jump. The Naturally Nested eggs didn't say organic, but they are cage free, no steriods, antibiotics or stimulants. Hmmm, so what is the difference? The Organic Valley are local, not sure where the others come from. More research is needed I think...
