Mixed up batch of sourdough. I use a recipe from a cookbook called Cooking Alaska. You boil a couple of potatos and lift out the skins, then mash the potatoes in the water to make a pretty thick paste. Then add flour and put in a jar or bowl - use glass or ceramic. You need to let it set for a few days - it will start to bubble and then you know it has worked. After that, just keep it in a jar and feed it every few days a couple spoonfuls of flour and one of sugar. I always use a wooden spoon to stir my starter and I keep mine on the counter.
