Another tragedyJust saw an e-mail from Above Rubies....a member of the group suffered a huge loss... They were ready to move from Florida to Ohio...and were showing their home to the renters when their 1-1/2 year old son, Ezekiel, drowned in their pool. Oh, can you imagine the grief? The shock? Being ready for a new chapter in your life and having such a tragedy occur? I tell ya....these types of tragedies just seem to be happening more and more. If this isn't enough to make folks get on their knees and accept Christ, I don't know what will.... Please keep this family in prayer... Ssd, sad news....I have just read about Marsha's son....her 3 year old son drowned in a pond....and my heart is breaking for this family. Suzanne has a post about this... I cannot imagine the grief and sorrow they are experiencing. Is it just me or do these tragedies seem to be coming in record number lately? Wives losing their husbands, husbands losing their wives, parents losing their children....well...not really losing them. They are awaiting their loved ones in Heaven. But, here, now, they are lost to us. Time heals all wounds, or so they say.....I am not so sure...I think the wound just gets a scab over it. Time after time, that scab gets pulled off and the hurt is at the forefront again. Each time the scab grows back...but the wound goes deeper. The only healing balm for this wound is Jesus. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond our expectations. I have no clue how those without Him get through a single day...let alone a tragic event like these. Hug your babies. Hug your Honey. Let go of the little annoyances. Just love each other....and remember that these days are so fleeting. Don't let another day go by without showing your loved ones that you do indeed love them. Time is just too short.... An award!!My friend Julie at Hatfield House (in the city) awarded me with this very thoughtful award. Thanks, Julie!!!
Here are the rules that go along with it: Only 5 people are allowed to receive this award. Let's see....only 5.... 1. Ellen....a friend I met on a message board...and have so enjoyed getting to know her. She lives on the other side of the pond as they say! 2. Misty...an IRL friend of mine whom I just love to pieces!!! 3. Michele...another IRL friend...and an inspiration in her family size and eagerness for more blessings! 4. Beth, a good friend..and one I hope to have forever! 5. Tiffani...another friend from a message board...and one that I treasure!!! I'm off to comment them with their awards!!! iBlackFriday!!Are you a fellow Black Friday shopper?? I know many people don't want to be bothered with getting up so very early the day after Thanksgiving to get the deals...so here's the answer for you! Last year, I found iblackfriday! What a treasure this is..whether you hit the stores or not! What I especially love about this site is that you can see the ads ahead of time. This is great so you can compare the best deals and map out your shopping plan. OR....you can order those items directly and not even leave your warm, cozy home after that huge filling meal the day before (and those late night snacks of turkey sandwiches that we all love!). Here's one that I'll be checking out... my favorite store for a bargain...and the only major retailer in our town.... Wal Mart I'm interested in the Kodak Z710 they have listed for $149. And can't forget the Littlest Pet Shop whirl around playground for only $15! I can already see my Christmas shopping being made so much easier with iBlackFriday! You can also sign up for e-mail alerts when they post each Black Friday ad. Can't get much easier than that! Bring on the holiday shopping season!! An award!
My friend, Michele, gave me this award! I did a little looking around blog-land to see what the title of the award is and what it's for...here's what I found... Awww, isn't that sweet? That my blog nourishes and enriches the spirit of creativity? Cool! Thanks, Michele!!!! I'd award this to you if you hadn't already received it!!! Here are the rules for passing on this award: 1. Put the logo on your blog. 2. Add a link to the person who awarded it to you. 3. Nominate at least 5 other blogs. 4. Add links to these blogs on your blog. 5. Leave a message for your nominee on their blog. Please visit all these fine blogs! They all deserve recognition! 1. My friend, Crystal, at Homemaking Homesteader 2. Chas at Heritage Acres Homeschool 3. Jamin at Just Call Me Jamin'! A Hubby TagAs you all know, one of my most favoritest subjects to blog about is my Honey. Well, I found this hubby tag over at Jen Ig's blog Here goes.... 1. Who is your man? Tobias aka Toby aka My Honey 2. How long have you been together? First date- 12 days shy of 19 years. Married, 17 years, 6 months and 20 days (yep, we still say Happy Anniversary every month on the 5th) 3. How long dated? 1 year, 5 months (we married on the same date as our first date, the 5th) 4. How old is your man? 47 (9 years older than me)...but in my eyes, 28 5. Who eats more? I'd like to say him...but lately, he's not had too much of an appetite... 6. Who said "I love you" first? ME...I was in love the first time I saw him...even moreso the first time we talked...and oh my, the first time we kissed, well let's just say, I knew it! 7. Who is taller? Definitely him....poor guy has to bend over to kiss me..and let me tell you, he spends a good deal of time bent over doing just that 8. Who sings better? Again, definitely him. Love his voice!!!! 9. Who is smarter? Once again, definitely him. He's the most well read person I know. 10. Whose temper is worse? Depends on the situation. 11. Who does the laundry? Since I'm the wife, ME! 12. Who takes out the garbage? That's a man's job (unless, of course, your Honey works till early morning and you are letting him sleep in) 13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I never know which way you'd be looking...from the end of the bed...Honey. 14. Who pays the bills? Well, he makes the money, I send it off to pay the bills 15. Who is better with the computer? Depends on what we are doing....some things, me, other things him. 16. Who mows the lawn? Again, this is a man's job..and my man just happens to love to cut grass. Or he weedeats while Thomas mows. 17. Who cooks dinner? Hmmm....why are these jobs not easily defined? Me, of course, I'm the wife, remember?! 18. Who drives when you are together? Honey mostly. Unless he's tired or just wants to take in the scenery. 19. Who pays when you go out? Well, again, he makes the money, I spend it. 20. Who is most stubborn? Depends on the topic 21. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Most definitely Honey. He's so quick to apologize it's not even funny. 22. Whose parents do you see the most? Mine..they like to come live in our front yard. We LOVE it when they do that!!! 23. Who kissed who first? In my dreams, me....in reality, him. 24. Who asked who out? Well, our first date started out as just two friends going to a new mall together...then we went to lunch together. Then we went back to get his truck...and the most awesomest kiss ever took place...then he asked me out to the movies... So officially, Honey. 25. Who proposed? I would have proposed a month after our first date, if not sooner. But, that's the man's job (again with the not knowing of the jobs...), so I patiently waited for him to do so. 26. Who is more sensitive? Depends on the subject. Overall, me, but there's such a sensitive soul inside my Honey that most people have no clue is there. 27. Who has more friends? Me, only because I have more time and don't have a job to go every day. My favoritest friend is my Honey. 28. Who has more siblings? Tie...I have two brothers, he has a sister and a step brother 29. Who wears the pants in the family? We both wear pants...but the "pants of the family" goes to Honey, as it should! 30. How did you meet? On the phone first...I worked at a Firestone store, he worked at a parts store. I loved talking to him on the phone. Once I found out he wasn't already taken, I was quite excited to meet him in person at the store one day. Then we spent time together at church. So, we always say we met at work and church. Isn't God great?! Well, that was fun!!! Uncle WayneFriends,It is with great sadness and grief that I write these words...
My Uncle Wayne passed away this morning. They removed the ventilator after my Aunt Nina told the Dr not to operate to remove the damaged brain areas. This would have most likely left him in some sort of vegetative state. That was one thing Uncle Wayne adamantly did not want to happen to him. He struggled to breathe and then just passed away....
Graciously and most generously, my Dad and brother Todd are coming here to pick the children and me up...they are leaving tomorrow and will be here Thursday am. We'll leave soon after to be on the road as little as
possible for the 4th....It's hard to know that we have to be picked up like this...I wish life was a bit different....but I can't dwell on what is not and just accept what is. I did check into car rentals, but with it being a holiday weekend, there's not alot left in our town. The only thing that would carry all five of us is a 4 door truck..at a cost of almost $300, plus the gas to get there. I did check into flights...how outrageous at a cost of almost $700 PER PERSON! Ouch!
Please keep us in prayer as we travel. And keep Toby in prayer as he holds down the fort here at home. It's hard to be apart during times like these. And keep my Aunt Nina and folks in prayer. My Mom has now lost both of her siblings. As much as my heart is hurting, I can't imagine the pain in their hearts.
Thank you for your prayers and words of comfort. I dearly appreciate them!!!
Not so great phone call...My SIL just called...the Dr said his best hope for survival was to remove the damaged part of his brain. My Aunt Nina said he wouldn't want that...and we all know he truly wouldn't want that. So, they are now doing only comfort measures and do not expect him to recover. Thomas and I are fixing to leave for town. His braces' appmt is at 1 and we have several other stops to make beforehand. One of those stops will be to the thrift store to hopefully find some clothes for me. I fear I will be making a trip to NY soon and need something better than my stained house clothes... He called....Oh, thankfully, my brother just called. The brain pressure number is high....he's been between 12 and 20. He shot up to over 100, has gone down to 50 and back up again. From what I understand, this number is the pressure in his brain, the lower the better. Also, his blood pressure is over 200 over something...my brother wasn't sure. Just pray.....please pray..... Please pray for Uncle Wayne RIGHT NOW!!PLEASE PRAY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know the details....the phone rang just minutes ago, and in my sleepy stupor ( we went to bed at 2 after Toby got home, then were up from 3-5:30 with Natalie and Mary vomiting again), I didn't realize who was calling and by the time I did, (it was my brother in NY), he had left a message. I've tried calling him back, but just get his voice mail, same with Mom... Anyhow, his message said that Uncle Wayne took a turn for the worst about 3:30am today. His brain pressure and blood pressure both have sky-rocketed and if they don't come down, the Dr says it doesn't look good... A little prayer for my brother to call me back soon would be nice....I HATE being so far away....especially when I can't get a hold of anyone... Thank you! { Last Page } { Page 1 of 14 } { Next Page } |
