Monday meanderings...

{ 06:50, Monday, May 26, 2008 } { Posted in A day in the life } { 1 comments } { Link }

It's Monday again! I do love Mondays...it's time to start a fresh, new week. Time to make that to do list actually become shorter.....

Last Friday night was our end of the year awards banquet for Keepers/Contenders. I really enjoyed this time together! I think I enjoyed it even more than I did last year's banquet. Rebecca said she did as well. Our group is a bit smaller than it was last year...and a bit more intimate. I got all nervous before I had to get up there in front of everyone like I always do..but it faded before too much time passed. I was so proud of the children as I handed them their pins and shook their hands. It's hard to believe another year has passed...

This week is full of excitement!! Today is cleaning day...is that the epitome of excitement or what?! I've already begun climbing Mt Laundrymore. It sure is extra large this morning! We're also finishing up some cleanup on the porch...have many, many more bags of things to donate to the local thrift store. I had thought about doing a yard sale..but I guess I'm too lazy. The thought of pricing all that stuff..and waiting for folks to find us...well...it just didn't really float my boat. I did keep some to list on our local swap site..and maybe eBay some of it.

I also need to tackle this office. Much to go through...it's getting overwhelming in here. Ick. I hate being overwhelmed..especially with stuff.

Over the weekend, I baked bread and cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls I mixed up on Saturday and put them in the frig. Got them out yesterday morning and then baked them. They were sure yummy! Made for an easy breakfast too. Love that on Sunday morning! I sent a plate full of the rolls to work with Honey this morning. He told me they wouldn't appreciate them...since most of their "goodies" come from a box or a vending machine..but I'll bet some home made goodies would perk those taste buds up!

You know..that makes me think of a conversation Honey had with some female co-workers last week. Every morning, I get up with Honey...every morning at the crack of 3:30 that alarm goes off. Honey has his bathroom time, then I get up. After my bathroom time, I head out to the kitchen and make his egg sandwich to take to work for breakfast (which he eats on his first break). I then pack his lunch. Once he's done dressing, he comes out and we talk a bit, then pray together before it's time to give him to Home Depot for the day. The co-workers were marveling at his egg sandwich the other day. Yep, it's on homemade bread, yep, it's fresh. Nope it didn't come from a store. Then the question he's asked so many times...does your wife really get up with you every morning? Yep. And she doesn't go to work? Nope, she's always stayed home to raise our children. And she makes this and packs your lunch every day? Yep. Then it comes....You're one lucky man...there's no way I'd get up with my husband if I didn't have to go to work! This is when Honey says, and how is your relationship with your husband? That usually ends the conversation, unfortunately. They don't want to think about their relationships..with their husband or their children. I find it quite sad that so many are so surprised at this. I can't imagine not getting up with my Honey! Sure, there have been seasons of my life where I didn't....when we had nursing babes and I'd been up and down all night, I'd get a soft kiss on the cheek after Honey had packed his own lunch (that I'd put together in the frig the night before). We all have seasons of our life like that. But, today, my youngest babe is 5. I haven't had a nursing babe in 2 years...and one that I've been up and down with all night in probably 4 years. So, other than selfishness, I have no reason to not get up. Honey is the one going off to a job each morning. I get to stay home and take care of our babes. What better job is there in all the world?! And how could I not take loving care of my Honey who makes it possible for me to be able to stay home with our babes?!

Well, that turned into a book!

Back to our week ahead.....on Wednesday, I am hosting a get together here!!!! I am beyond excited!!!!! Two friends from an online message board I've been a part of for a long time are coming here!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!

Whew...can you tell I'm excited?!!!!!

Friday is our end of the school year (for some!..not us yet!!) annual get together at a local creek. It's a really wonderful, relaxing spot. I love going there!!! I'm looking forward to a great day with great friends!!!

Not sure what Saturday will hold. I can't believe it will be the last day of May! Exactly where is this year getting to?!

I just heard the washer stop again...for the third time this morning...It's bright outside..so it's time to get out there and hang this laundry out to dry.

Have an abundantly blessed day!!!
