Is it spring?

So, is it really spring? If it is, someone forgot to tell the weather! It hasn't been above 50* this whole week. BUT...I am not complaining!! I am so not ready for all the jobs and duties that warmer weather brings. And, after the beautiful days of spring will come summer...and all of its oppressive heat.
We are studying courtship and dating in our studies of the Primer in school. It has made for some interesting conversations. Today, they are to interview Daddy and I about how we met and what qualities we saw in each other to want to get to know each other better. Oooh....one of my favorite subjects....how much I love their Daddy!
Received news today that my online friend, Vicki, had her baby last night!!! Some sort of complications, so she was not able to VBAC as she had so desired. Vicki is an awesome friend and Mom. Wish I lived close enough to go see baby Micaiah and Mama!!! Congratulations, Vicki and family!!!
We are making preparations for Miss Rebecca's 13th birthday party this Saturday. She is trying to pick out her cake design. She is leaning towards something fancy fancy. She would like to have roses and a bunch of flowers...but I am not that great at flowers...so we shall see...
Just cannot believe my babe is turning 13. I remember 13 so well....wouldn't want to go back there again, but I do remember it well. Looking back now, so much will happen for Rebecca in the next 10 years....things that seem to take forever when you are waiting for them to happen....but in actuality, happen overnight.....
We are awaiting the birth of our next calf. Phyllis is next to calve. Cutie's little calf still has no name. Rebecca calls her Beatrice. Thomas calls her Radar due to her ears. Neither one sound right to me...
The pigs are growing larger each day. I am amazed at how quickly they do actually grow!!
The goats are getting rounder and rounder. Not completely sure they are bred...but they are showing some signs...
The two cats, Belle and Lilly are both prego right now too. I have been letting Belle come inside. She is further along that Lilly. (And, truth be told, I don't really like Lilly...I know that's not right, but she's not a nice cat....). Belle does like the princess treatment...she doesn't know we just want to get to watch the exciting event of birth!
I believe Gentle is bred. She showed signs of heat Feb 27th. Nothing since. Praying that she is indeed bred....Would mean a later in the year birth than we'd like. But she would be bred to a Jersey and we'd still be in milk.
Life is returning to normal here again. Toby's tooth saga seems to be over. He did tell me this morning that his sinuses are bothering him on that same side of his face...and he gets little muscle spasms there still. It was quite an ordeal for this family.
We also have tv again. Dish tv now offers a family channel package for $19.99 a month. That's the same amount we were spending to rent dvd's from Family Pass. I know there are cheaper options such as Netflix. But, we didn't feel good about using their service as they have movie categories that we found offensive. We have been pretty good about limiting our tv time. It is interesting to have tv again after not having it for 2 years. I did miss Food network and have really enjoyed being able to watch Alton, Emeril and Rachel again...not to mention see new ones I hadn't ever seen before.
This Saturday, we pick up our first Angel Food box. We have friends who do this each month and rave about it. It is a box of food for $25....the menu looked pretty good this month.
So....been away awhile and look at all I have to talk about!
Time for Thomas and Rebecca to look up the logging industry for a bit online....
Have a blessed day!!!!

Hi Laurie! Your blog is looking so beautiful! Love the colors and the pics...you're becoming quite a professional at HTML (I think that's what it's called)! Hope Rebecca's Party is wonderful (I know it will be!). And so many other "birth" days you're awaiting! Hope Toby is feeling better from these after effects of the tooth.
Blessings on you, my homestead friend.
Elizabeth
