Finally!!Since the change to a new server, I have not been able to get a new entry page to load...hence no updates in awhile...Sorry! We have sold our goats. Toby called the man who bought our buck last year. He said he'd take them, sight unseen. We delivered them to him since he only had a crate in the back of his truck...much easier to get all 6 of them loaded in our trailer than up the tailgate of a truck! Natalie and Mary were not too happy about their being sold...but are handling it well. That night, before bed, I noticed a paper with Natalie's handwriting. I pulled it out, and found there were three that said the same thing, with different pictures drawn. She wrote, "If you sell my goat, Chocolate, I will be heartbroken". Then a picture of Chocolate and a broken heart. Toby and I both cried when we saw them. Honey's first words were "If I had seen this before we left, we'd still have a goat around here." He has such a tender heart.... Natalie did cry a bit before we left the goats, but she seems fine now. We sold the goats because in order to keep them, we needed to invest time and money, both of which are in short supply right now. They needed new area to browse, which meant new fencing bought and installed. The ground here is rather inhospitable to putting in fence...and this would have been up the hillside.....since we really didn't get much out of the goats, other than some brush control and entertainment, we decided the best choice for our farm was to sell them. We may, at some point in the future, get more goats. But for now, it's nice that they are gone...less feed to buy...and less hay we need for the winter. So, now our farm is down to beef cows, milk cow, chickens, ducks, guineas, dogs and cats. Too many cats..that needs to be addressed. Also a new chicken house...that's been a long time needed.... There's always something to be done around here!!! We didn't set off any fireworks this year for Independence Day. (I don't like calling it the 4th as some do....I like to remember the real reason for the celebration...much like calling Christmas- Xmas..I can't stand that one!) It was just too dry. My niece, Sarah, is coming for a visit!!! We are all looking forward to having her with us! We've planned some activities...just going to the creek and things like that. We have a countdown going for when she arrives! Only 11 more days!!! We go to Nashville to pick her up and will stop somewhere on the way home...that somewhere is still to be decided...either the mall or Adventure Science Center...not sure yet which one... My other niece, Katy, has made the US Junior World Championship kayaking team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am incredibly proud of her!!!!!! She just turned 15 last month and competed against 18 year olds for that spot! She will be traveling with the team to the Czech Republic! How awesome is that? Her goal is the London Olympics in 2012...and I have no doubt she'll make it there! Now, I have 5 years to figure out how to pay for tickets to London and the Olympics! Speaking of that...wouldn't it be so cool to get to go? And leave London and travel to France? Rebecca would so dearly love to see Paris. And I'd so love to take her!!!! She'd also like to travel to Italy.... Hmmm.....5 years to figure out how to pay for this...what a trip that would be! She'd be 19...a year older than I was when I traveled to Germany and Paris. Perfect!!!! Okay, now I'm in dreamland....guess I should close....
