Tuesday evening

It's rather quiet here this evening. Thomas went with the neighbors to a hunter safety course. It started last night, but it was okay that he began tonight. This way, he will be legal to hunt for the next season. Rebecca has the girls out jumping on the trampoline. And my beloved is in bed. He has had an awful toothache since Saturday. Which means not much sleep...for either of us, but him more than me. And I am not in pain like he is. He went to the dentist yesterday. It is a tooth that has a filling in it. The tooth is cracked and infected. The Dr gave him penicillin for the infection and Lortab for pain. The Lortab seemed to make him drowsy, but not really touch the pain. The pain is worse at night. 

I stood before him last night after he had tried to lay down and the throbbing began. I held his head and caressed his face. I prayed for him. I gave him a hot rice sock. I gave him an ice pack. Nothing seemed to help. I felt so bad for him.

I wanted so badly to relieve his suffering. But, only time could do that. After propping him up on many, many pillows so that he was almost sitting up,  he drifted off to sleep. The alarm went off way too early this morning! He did get up and go to work.

The pain seemed to subside around his lunchtime, about 9 am. He said it hasn't been too bad since then. He got very sleepy after supper and went to bed. I went in to tuck him in and was talking to him as he drifted off to sleep. I pray that he gets some restful sleep and his body can heal.

Tonight for supper, we had shrimp. These shrimp were a gift from the daughter of a friend from LA. She sent us 3 quart size bags of peeled, frozen shrimp. Oh my...they were so yummy! I made one bag and have the other two in the freezer. I think we could have eaten all 3 bags tonight!

It's nearly time to go milk. Have more chores to do with Thomas being gone and Toby in bed. The beef cows are mooing for their hay. The ducks are quacking for their scratch grain. The goats are bawling for their grain and hay. The pigs are squealing for their grain and milk. And Gentle is ready to be milked and have her supper. So many mouths depending on us to be fed. It gets a bit overwhelming at times...to realize how much responsibility we have to these animals. They give us such enjoyment to watch the cycles of their lives.

Guess I will close this post and head out. The sun will be going down soon...as will the temperature.

Laurie,
I am so sorry to hear about your hubby's toothache. I feel so badly for him. Is he feeling any better? I will send a healing prayer his way. Love to you all and talk soon on the Homestead.

Was he able to sleep last night....sure hoping the doctor can see him today. Let us know.
