Gentle is coming to our farm!

We went last night to look at the milk cow. Her name is Gentle. The name perfectly suited her! She stood still, never lifting even a foot, while the Amish man, Levi, milked her. While Levi showed my Thomas how to milk and then while he showed me how to milk. She had three different folks milking her, two of them novices, and never flinched. Throw in the fact that there were 4 other people standing pretty close to her and a dog walking around her and that makes her standing still pretty awesome!

We will go pick her up tomorrow morning. We are all pretty excited about this!! It will feel like a real farm! We have visions of milk, butter, cheese, soaps....oh what fun we are going to have!

Quite interesting conversation on the way home last night. The children are so excited and it was hard to contain it!

So, this morning is my last morning to take advantage of a bit of extra sleep...I think I will close now and do just that. Once Gentle is here, I will be getting ready to go milk her about this time...well, about a half hour from now. It's pitch black dark out there now...we will need some sort of light setup. Course,we could get some lanterns and do it like the Amish family did last night!

How very exciting!! Can't wait to hear how it goes and all they yummy foods you create from Gentle's milk!!! Oh wow...that is VERY exciting!!
