Tuesday ramblings

Good morning!

We are off on an adventure today! Going to Nashville! We are visiting the Frist museum for the Ancient Egypt exhibit. Then we are headed to the Adventure Science Center! Should be a fun day...a long one, but a fun one! Going along with us are my friend and her two daughters as well as one of Rebecca's friends. Will be a Burb full 'o folks...but I can already hear the girls chattering! :)

Tomorrow will be school work, then working on yard sale items. Yep, it's time to get rid of the "stuff" and have a yard sale! We emptied out the shed over the weekend, and it's all on the front porch awaiting sorting, wiping and pricing. Supposed to rain Wednesday night and Thursday. So, I'd like to get the porch stuff done Wednesday during the day. We also have a storage room that can be accessed from either outside or through a door in the office. I plan to work on that area during the rainy Thursday...through the door in the office, of course!

We are hoping to sell ALL of it and make a ton of money!  Okay, so maybe not a ton of money...but enough to take a short little trip would be wonderful. Gentle will be dry soon...and not due to calve till the end of October. Martha and Ken will be here the second week of October...so perhaps the third week of October, we could do something as a vacation. We don't take many vacations...

As for where we would go??? Well, the children have been really talking about Chattanooga...we have fond memories of visiting there when we were looking for our farm here in TN. Perhaps an aquarium? They have mentioned that as well. Guess we'll see how much we take in at the yard sale and see how far we can go with that. We can't be gone too long...still animals here needing care. But, with Gentle dry, it would be easier to ask someone to come just to feed the others and not have to milk her.

Toby should be having his year end review soon. They were going to do a fellow IMA's review yesterday...sure hoping for a great raise..I know the review is going to be fantastic..cause he's awesome! And he does his job well. One thing about my beloved is that he is very conscientious and does all that is asked of him, and then some. He does the pick up work that the others let slide. He makes sure all departments are finished...he's only left early once...to go to a dentist appmt...the others leave early at least twice a week. He's only missed 1 day of work due to the tooth abcess he had...the others, well.... He's only been late to work once...in the early days... Boy, they should let me do his year end review! He'd get a whopping raise and probably a reserved parking space! Not to mention three months vacation...what else could I give him?  Working two days and having five off would be a good start!

It's now time to wake my children. They are so not going to want to rise and shine as I always tell them...it's only 49* here...and their beds are warm...going out to do chores will make them cold...oh, the poor babes. I could tell them stories of my youth...of getting up at 4:30 to go milk...in the cold, the snow, the heat, the whatever...it didn't matter...we had chores to do and they got done. My Dad, the taskmaster that he was, didn't really care what the weather was like... He was a great role model in how to stay on task and get things done. He did teach me that one! They don't really want to hear my "walking to school 2 miles up hill both ways through the snow" stories. They just want me to let them sleep...but there's enough of my Dad in me to not be able to do that!  Besides, we have a big day ahead..time to get it started!

Laurie - I hope today was fun for you, the kids and the friends - can't wait to hear!!
Wished I lived closer would love to come to your yard sale - they are my weakness - I love them!!
