A late night post...

A late night for me....got home from my monthly Mom's night out about an hour ago...and was too keyed up to sleep. It's always such a great time at MNO...wish they could always last longer!

Tomorrow, Rebecca and Thomas are going to a Safe Sitter class at the hospital. It's a 2 day class...and all day both days. Means leaving home about 8:15. We are then headed to Amish-ville, with a friend of ours who is quite good friends with the Amish. Going with her will mean getting to really visit those families. It will be neat to see Miss Sarah, where we bought our milk cow, Gentle. Haven't seen her since we brought her home. Also going to a bulk food store...that one I am really looking forward to. So nice to have such wonderful friends!

I took some photos of the kitchen and utility room today. Now, to get them downloaded to the computer...then I will get them posted. Perhaps I will have time in the morning after my Honey leaves for work. Will be a busy morning, though, so not sure!

It's warming up here again...I will say it again...I don't like the heat! Fall can come right now! :)

Great news! We have a new calf! A girl!! We were watching Bambi all day yesterday cause she sure looked ready. She hadn't calved last night before bed. I was concerned about her, she is the one I had to pull her calf last year. I got up twice during the night to go look at her. This morning, still no calf. I was outside video taping Natalie and Mary (they had an orange juice stand, which turned into a lemonade stand, then into an iced tea stand...can you tell they were emptying the frig?! They are raising money to buy a toy, which is really sweet cause Natalie said she needs to buy two so Mary could have one as well.) While I was doing that, I thought it had been a bit since I taped the animals, so I walked over...and while I was looking at the beef cows, saw a new calf! It is was not Bambi's calf...but Phyllis'...the other cow we have been waiting for! Bambi still has not calved. Sure hope she does it soon!

Life is always exciting around here...never a dull moment. When I think back to when we lived in FL, we were always going here and there looking for something to do...something to entertain....we have no lack of that now. And we don't even have to leave our driveway! God is so good...He has given us an awesome place to live, with awesome folks around us, with such incredible beauty. What else could we possibly ask for?! Well, I can think of only one thing....for my Honey to work at home. It has been our dream all of our married life....and Toby's dream before that. It would make the whole life perfect if we were able to make a living from our farm...and have him home with us.

That's the goal...sometimes we lose sight of it and depend a bit too much on a job....but it is tugging hard at our hearts again....

Saw a tiny babe tonight at the restaurant. I asked the other Moms if they thought we could take him home...they said no. :( Baby fever....such a huge disease around here!

Guess I am tired enough now to hit the sheets. It's after 11...and 3:30 comes pretty soon!

I love reading about your days on your homestead. You sound so happy and content. Isn't life so wonderful when we feel so blessed by the simple things. I love your sweet spirit.

Laurie - I agree with Cathy, you sound so happy and content...it is a blessing to just read your blogs!! It brings a big smile to my face!!
Sounds like you have a lot going on - we need pics of the house and the new member of the family....the new calf I mean!!!
You having baby fever....I didn't want to confuse you!!! You are in my thoughts and prayers everyday....bless....
