Friday morning....is it Friday already?!

Can you believe it is the last day of June? I sure can't!! Where has this year gone already?!

Things, they are a changin' around here!!! We moved the big frig into the kitchen...and the piano into the new reading/piano room! We will be putting the chest freezer in the utility room, along with the old frig from the kitchen. There is a cabinet on the wall in the utility room that needs to be moved down by about a foot to make room for the frig and freezer on that wall. Toby will move that for me once I have it cleaned out.

We will then be ready to take out the counter from the kitchen to put it in the utility room. Once we are done moving stuff, I would like to paint some...but no biggie if we don't.

We still need to do the trim upstairs and the closets. I think that is all that remains to be done...till Ken returns in October. He'll be finishing the staircase, and the drywall in that area. Also some wiring in the office and reading

room. We'll be planning for the new bathroom...after that...well, my wish list is changing our bathroom and bedroom around, replacing the front windows...then to make some changes to the porch...taking the concrete one off, replacing it with a wood deck and extending it to the end of the house (actually, extending it all the way around the house is my ultimate dream!). The rest of the wish list after the new bathroom is really just wish...not really needed..but sure wanted. The second bath..well, that's pretty needed! :)

We are going to pick up Bacon on Saturday. It's so exciting to eat food from our farm! The beef we had from our first cow processing is gone...We are so ready for Cheeseburger to be processed and in the freezer as well!

We have begun getting our goats used to being milked. They are such fun! They are adjusting to it quite well...as long as there is food in front of them, they really don't mind what you are doing to them! It will be great if we like the milk....when Gentle is dry awaiting her calf, we would still have fresh milk. In the meantime, I plan to make cheese and soap with it. I will be getting all of the fat from Bacon to use in my soap. All that I need to find a source for now is lye. Anyone have a good source? I have been reading that lye is getting hard to find....

Guess I need to get off the computer and get to school work. The children have been doing manipulatives games. Time to get to the real stuff...

Sounds like things are going great on your beautiful homestead. I sure enjoy reading all about it. Let us know how it goes picking up Bacon today. A freezer full...great!!
