Changes, changes....all for the better! We finished putting the primer on all the rooms, ceilings, closets and hallway tonight! Tomorrow we will begin painting the ceilings. Ken will be putting up the ceiling fans we bought yesterday. They are simple white fans...and not too expensive. Got all three for less than $60. Not bad! Tomorrow, Ken and Tina will be replacing the siding. That will sure make the outside look better. It's been pink since they took the siding off! Ken got the siding replaced on the end of Thomas' room today...in between rain drops. That looks great!! Yesterday, they finished off the new closet (where the old stairs used to be) in what will be the office. They also worked on the stairway. It's nearly all drywalled in. They built a door to close off the rest of the attic. Looks so cute!
Toby and I were talking this evening about how hard it is already to remember that big, open room upstairs. Now, in that room's place are three bedrooms. And they look so well done. Ken is quite talented in this stuff! We are ever so thankful to him and Martha for this. It would have been way too much for us to tackle on our own...and to take out a loan to pay someone else to do it...I can only imagine what that bill would have been. What an incredible blessing this is to our family.
It was so sweet...all six of us painting upstairs. Natalie said how much she loves it when we all do projects together. Toby was watching Natalie and Mary "painting" in the closet...he said that the little oopsies...they are the things that you see only when you are lying in bed before going to sleep...and they bring back the memory of the day. He's so mushy. Doesn't show as much as he should...but he really is so tender-hearted and sentimental. I remember a yard sale we had a long time ago. I sold a light orange sweater that no longer fit and a wok we bought before we married and no longer used. He later told me he wished I hadn't sold those things...the sweater he loved to see me wear....and the wok was our first kitchen purchase together. I had no idea those things mattered so to him. I vowed to never sell things again without asking him first.
Granny treated us to McDonald's today. We never go there...it was a treat to all of us. There was a birthday party going on so the girls couldn't play much. I don't really understand the birthday party at McDonald's idea...I'll bet it's expensive...and what's the thrill? Anyone can go there, get a Happy Meal and play on the playland any time. The only extras I saw were funny straws in the cups and a pitiful looking cake. This Mom bought another cake and turned their's down. I mean, this was an awful attempt at a cake...so small and understated for a child's birthday. What's the matter with just gathering in the backyard and having a party?
Guess I need to close for now...it's nearing 9 pm...past my bedtime already! And I am pooped! Tomorrow is Daddy's Day. We are having special food all day to celebrate. Wish my Dad were here....but, they just left here this past week...and will return in about 3 weeks.
Will try to have photos soon to show the finished product!!!
