Good morning!
Life is nothing if not exciting around here! The remodel project is still in full swing. This week, they should be finishing drywall, electrical, and siding. We will begin painting soon. Still to be done will be staining the doors and hanging them, staining trim for windows and installing that. Not sure what else will be needed...Oh, major cleaning of the floors and finding large area rugs for the rooms. Then, I can begin on our new office area. I will need more outlets in that room, so not sure how long till I will truly be able to use it as an office. My friend, Tina, used to work for the phone company, so she has agreed to run a new phone line to the office so I can move the computer in there. Might be nice to have an outlet in our room or the living room too. We currently have only one phone in our room, in the utility room. Once the office is done, we'll start on the reading room. That's what I am calling Thomas' former room for now. We plan to move the piano into this room and line the rest of the walls with bookshelves. We have ALOT of books! Also, I want to find a nice, comfy, overstuffed chair, end table and reading light for my beloved. All of our married life, he has wanted a comfy place to sit and read...and we've never really had that. I hope there is room to do all that I envision in that room.
My next big project will be the kitchen. We have a counter that is great, but really in the way. I would like to move that to the utility room...I can use it for folding..or soap making (!). With the computer moved and that counter gone, we can swap refrigerators. Taking the smaller one to the utility room, and the bigger one into a different space in the kitchen. This will open up a new area for our table. I dream of a new large table...one with benches on each side. One large enough to seat everyone without a mish mash of chairs.
We also plan to put in another bathroom. We have a small storage room (used to be a porch, the previous owners closed it in) that will be utilized for this. Not sure exactly about those plans...have a couple of suggestions we are mulling over...
Big plans....our home needs changes....we have lived here for a little over 2 years and have been thinking of these changes for awhile. A huge change we would like to do is remove the concrete porch we have now. It actually slopes towards the house! We would like to extend it to the end of the house and bring it out further, making a nice space for sitting and eating. It would be wonderful to be able to have nicer porch furniture out there without worrying about it getting soaked in the rain! But, this change will be a ways away...that's a pretty big job.
We are so incredibly thankful to Martha and Ken for this upstairs remodel. It is a huge blessing to our family!!!! How do you begin to say thank you for all of their effort and hard work? Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
My blogging time seems to be about up...today is laundry day and the dryer just buzzed. I am taking the children to see the Nashville travelling zoo today. It's the kick off for the summer reading program today! We'll stop for a few groceries on the way home. Should be a fun day!!
