Book review...Let Go by Sheila Walsh

 Over the past two weeks, I have had the pleasure of reading a new book by Sheila Walsh, Let Go...Live Free of the Burdens All Women Know.

Burdened. The word alone makes shoulders sink. It slows down our lives. It clouds our vision. It is the result of so many memories, grudges, fears, uncertainty, and stress. It is heavy.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matt 11:28)

Overworked? Overcommitted? Overtired? Underappreciated?

I would heartily recommend this book for any woman.

Each chapter begins with Bible verses and quotes relating to that chapter. Then Sheila tells a story that draws you in. One small complaint I have is that some of these stories are not completed...the reader is left wondering what the outcome was at times. Then Sheila gets into the meat of the chapter. Finishing each chapter is a prayer and questions.

Let Go touched on so many things affecting a woman's life. At the core of it all, she turns you to Jesus. Not to hold onto your husband, your career, your children, your earthly treasures...no... hold onto Jesus. I will admit that not all of her struggles are something I have ever walked through...but then, she hasn't walked through her struggles. It's not a matter of having the same issues, the end result is the same...draw close and hold on tight to Jesus.

I very much enjoyed this book and will be re-reading it to delve a little deeper. I have only one other small complaint....when Sheila is referring to God or Jesus as He, Him or His, she uses a lower case h. I feel it is more appropriate to capitolize that H....but that may be just a matter of opinion. Don't let that small thing stop you from reading this book.
