Saturday night....

It has been far too long since my last post...but it has been a very busy time here!

My MIL, Martha and her fiance, Ken, arrived on Wednesday. Ken is remodeling our upstairs. Our home was built in 1905...with a completely unfinished upstairs. It's just one big room...for now! Ken got right to work on Thursday morning. He and Thomas have been working very hard! The cardboard is removed from the walls, the wiring starting to be figured out, and the stud walls are up!!! Those walls went up today while I was away. It was so neat to walk up there when I got home to "see" the rooms! I don't possess much spatial ability...and have a bit of trouble envisioning things...but, those stud walls sure make it easy to begin to see what is coming!

If the rain would stop, the window work could begin. Ken is replacing the 3 windows up there and adding in 2 more. Our home is going to change so dramatically soon! Finally, our children will have rooms to call their own. Space to spread out a bit for all of us. Our 3 girls have been sharing a room since our big move, and Thomas' room is a pass through room to the whole house. It has been a bit tough on them all...especially Rebecca. Kinda hard to be 13 and share a room with your 3 year old and 6 year old sisters. She has been great about it...though those clean the room marathons are happily over for her!

They have all picked out their room colors. Can't wait to be to the painting stage...then the moving in stage!

Today, I went with two great friends to a used book/curriculum sale! It was such fun! A great day out with friends finding great bargains! I found some of our school items for next year. At great prices!!!!

Toby mowed more with the bush hog today. He got the first pasture up top mowed. A huge sweet gum tree that was on the fence line broke in half! The half that fell was huge....just try to imagine how big the two halves together were! It fell on some fence...and popped open a gate. The cows got out...but they were quickly put back where they belong. Supposed to have rain from tonight through Wednesday. Rainy days are usually nice...but not when there is so much outside work to be done...

It's been a good day, but a tiring one. I am ready for bed! Since it's past the children's (and mine for that matter!) bedtime, I will close for now and bid you good night. I'll try to write more often. Martha has a digital camera and has been taking photos for us. Once I have some downloaded to the computer, I will share some of the amazing changes to our home! And maybe one or two of our new kids!! Yes, our goat, Goatie (original, I know...!) had her babes on Wednesday morning. They are so precious!!! Our other goat, Baby (yes, too, original!) is due to kid soon too.

I am listening to a cd I bought today...for a buck!....of Susan Ashton, Margaret Becker and Christine Dente. It's an older cd....we used to have a cassette copy of this one...but it was lost in our move. I am so happy to have found it!!!! The song playing now is Taking My Time....what a great song!!!! That the only thing I get to take to heaven with me is my time...and what I have done with it....sure makes you think!!!!

See....told ya it's been busy around here!!
Off to la-la land....

Laurie, I love your blog. You have described everything so well, I feel like I am right there in the middle of your remodel. Please do share pictures. Congrats on the baby kids. My dh named our little pygmy buckling an original name too, Blacky. He is all black. Keep up the good work. Blessings, Winona

Can't wait to see the pictures. I love renos, but my dh is scared of them. So mostly I just live vicariously through other people's projects. ;~)
