Good evening!
It is far too hot here in TN already this year. Where oh where did my beautiful spring go? It hit 91* today! In April? I am thinking that photo of our farm looks much better! Snow!!! Yes, and colder weather...oh, I know it will be back in not too many months...but the time in between, ugh. I so dislike being hot. That was one of the great things about moving out of SW Florida...it is always hot, hot and hotter there. We do have four seasons here, and that's what we wanted. But this season of hot is not my favorite.

I found  a great use for annoying goat horns tonight...all of you horned goat owners already knew this one...but this was my first use of it....I had to pull Bill Edward AKA Annoying buck....out of the barn tonight. He would not move out and I needed to milk Gentle...so I grabbed onto one horn and he fought me a bit, so I grabbed the other and just pulled. He came out of the barn then!  We have him listed on our local swap and shop and have had a couple of calls about him. I sure am praying someone decides to actually come look at him....and take him home with them!

I have had a rash on my hands for a while now. Went to the Dr and he gave me a pill to take since I had tried every over the counter anti-itch and anti-fungal cream there was available. This pill is called Nizoral. I sure don't like taking pills...and don't take anything else besides vitamins. But, this one doesn't seem to be doing much yet. I have been on it now for two weeks. The Dr did tell me that I would be on it for a minimum of a month...perhaps two. I was hoping for a miracle and be healed quickly...but that is not to be... A friend suggested putting plantain on it. I chewed some up and put it part of it yesterday. Seemed to take some of the angry red-ness out... I picked a bunch more tonight and will be grinding it up in the food processor to coat the entire rash tonight. That chewing up stuff...well, it's fine if you are putting it on a bee sting or something small...but this rash is too large for this mouth to chew up enough to cover it!

Sleep didn't come too easily to me last night. My hand was throbbing...Toby let me sleep in this morning.

My son, Thomas, is growing up...too fast for my taste...but he is growing up into a fine young man. He and Daddy have been working on a 5 strand barbed wire fence behind our home to make a new pasture for the beef cows. They have been working every night after work. Thomas went out to work on it after he finished his chores of feeding the pigs this morning. He worked on it until it got too hot to be out there this morning. He went back out after we finished school work. He is out now with Daddy and they should be finished tonight to move the cows to this area. I must remember that he is not a little boy any more....as much as I miss my little man...he is becoming a man...slowly but surely. When did that happen?

When I was lamenting my hand hurting last night, my beloved said something about approaching 40. That sure threw me for a small loop! ME?!!! 40??? Nah, 40 is old and I couldn't possibly be old! Me?! Ummm...in 3-1/2 years I will be 40! Now, I have no clue when that happened either and I am not too sure I am thrilled about it! Don't get me wrong...my Honey is 45 and I sure don't think of him as old. Just the word FORTY....just doesn't seem to fit me...yet....and it's not my age....yet.....

Now that I am on that kick, I can think of nothing else to blog about...and my Honey is calling me to help move the cows! Yeah!! They will be so happy to have new grass to munch on. We sure could use the rain they are forecasting for the front pastures to begin growing some yummy (to the cows of course!) grass.

Have a great night!!!

And, Mom, hope you're reading...two posts in two days...not bad, eh?!

I tried a while ago to leave you a comment. Let see if this one works. I too enjoy reading your blogs. The one I wanted to comment on was a couple of days ago when you mentioned Katy\'s Kayaking. We sure wish you and the family could come and see her. We would LOVE to see you all.

Now...I will try and post this comment...and if it works you may hear more from me. Missy

Hi Laurie,
It's been hot here too. Not ready for the real hot temps yet either. I just love fall and winter the best.
Thinking of you all and talk soon on the Homestead.
Blessings my friend,
Cathy

What A Fun Blog!

Reading your blog feels just like talking to you on the phone! I am sorry to hear about the rash, but I'm glad the new fence is finished!
BTW, I thought I'd mention an idea for the rash (yeah, I know-unsolicited advice is a pain). For what it is worth, I've been researching coconut oil a lot lately. It is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and some scientists are testing it on all kinds of diseases. My DH is using it to succesfully treat excema right now. I think it has to be virgin coconut oil, though, not too processed. Since there are no side effects, it could be worth trying. Also, adding some into your diet can help too. I am sure there are some great articles about it at http://www.westonaprice.com/

Hope that helps! I'm enjoying your blog!

Blessings from Old Paths Family Farm!
