Time to blog again...

Busy, busy, busy...we have been far too busy!
When you are sleeping in each morning cause you are too tired to get up on time with your beloved, it's time to re-evaluate. When your son tells Daddy that he really loves the weekends, first because Daddy is home but a strong second is due to the relaxed time, it's time to re-evaluate. When you realize that you have been gone more than you have been home, yep, it's time to re-evaluate.
What we do away from home seems important...at the time. Upon further reflection, I have to wonder if it really was....
Looking back over our month, here is where we spent our time away from home...
1. Pick up Angel Food
2. Mall trip for Rebecca's 13th birthday
3. Mama dentist for cleaning
4. Piano, Mom's Night Out, and Dr for Mama so he could look at this icky rash on my hand (which turned out to be a fungus...still icky!!!)
5. 4-H County Bread baking contest (Thomas won!!!)
6. Ran to town after getting a blessing of a new calf, only to find TSC closed, so we did the grocery shopping instead
7. Piano, took Rebecca to meet her friend to spend the night
8. Art class, lunch and play at playground, pick up final Easter needs and film at Wal Mart, also a movie for Friday night

WHEW!!! Doesn't sound like that much...or does it? Remember, this is since April 1st...and today is only April 13th!
But...what can I cut out??????

I do know that things at home run so much smoother when we are actually AT home. Meals are prepared as they should be, chores are done and then some, extras can get done, piano can be practiced, calf can be walked, nesting boxes cleaned out, etc.... All need you to actually be at home.

I love being at home, my children love being at home, my Honey dreams of being at home. So, why aren't we here more? Why does it feel like we are always gone?

With the rising cost of gas, the decision to not go somewhere may be made for us. We drive a Suburban...when it costs almost $100 for a fill-up, it's time to really make sure that trip anywhere is necessary.

All that being said, we do have one more trip this week....tomorrow, we are going to a friend's home to visit with her and a new friend...and their children! Thomas is so incredibly excited! There will be TWO WHOLE BOYS there to play with!!! Thomas is usually left out in the friend dept...there's always someone for the girls to play with. (do 13 year old girls still play with their friends?!). Thomas has already played with these two boys and can't wait to do so again! Rebecca doesn't mind being the oldest there, for there will be babies for her to hold! She does so love doing that! Takes right after her Mama! There will be little people for Natalie and Mary. Doesn't it sound fun?!

Now, for next week, we already have some plans...
Tuesday is piano, and 4-H honor club (if Rebecca chooses to go).
Thursday is 4-H and Saturday is our Angel Food pick up day.
The next week, we have piano, and a field trip to Constitution Village in Huntsville. A long drive, but sure sounds like fun!!

Once May arrives, life will slow down some..as far as travelling goes. But, my MIL and Ken will be here to visit..and to remodel our upstairs! Yes, my children will have their own rooms soon! We are quite excited about that! My folks will also be here towards the end of the month. So, May is looking pretty great!!! There are two homeschool related activities I would love to attend, one is a curriculum sale, the other is the MTHEA curriculum fair. Both are a drive away..not sure if I will be able to attend both, but I sure would like to!

Once May is over, there isn't a whole lot planned for the summer. My niece is competing in the Kayaking Nationals competition in Atlanta. I hear she's great! And I sure would love to see my family. Atlanta is a 5 hour drive away...sure hoping to be able to go....

We don't have any summer trips planned. Toby will have 1 week vacation to take starting in August, as he will have been with Home Depot one year August 22nd...also Thomas' 11th birthday!

So, now it's getting light outside. I think I will get a jump on today's chores and go milk and feed Gracie. Oh my, yes, I didn't tell you about Gracie...that will have to wait for another post!

Laurie,
We are much in the same boat. I have to tell you that taking this week off from school except for our required testing, and focusing on my house has been VERY beneficial for me. I hope you find the right direction for your family. I am also looking forward to May when home school group and gym and swim stop. That will be good on my pocket book as well as my time.

God bless you,
Jennie

Laurie,
I feel the same as you all about being busy...I love staying home..makes all things much more peaceful.
I wanted to wish you and your family a wonderful Easter. You are such a sweet and kind person and it's been wonderful getting to "know" you through the "Homestead".
Blessings to you my friend,
Cathy
