Happy Father's Day to my Dad!!

Since tomorrow is Father's Day and we don't normally turn the computer on at all on Sundays, I thought I'd go ahead and post my Father's Day posts today....

This first one is dedicated to my Dad....

My Dad has always been an encourager to me. He's optimistic and positive...he's where I get my positive outlook from! He's a get it done sort of man.

Dad's always been there for me. Whatever I need, he's there to help any way he can. When we made our big move to TN, he and Mom came to help us pack. Dad got us packed up and moved. Once we got here, he helped Toby and Thomas do major fencing around our farm.

He didn't stop there. He also rebuilt sections of our very old barn (we've been told the old barn used to be the home on our farm...the home we live in was built in 1905...so I guess that could be true!). He closed in one end of it...I think he spent a total of $15 on supplies for that job!

He was here when it was time to take our pigs to be processed. What a treat it was to see him pushing those pigs in the trailer!

One of my greatest memories of my Dad was on my wedding day. He was crying tears of joy after the ceremony. It was a proud moment for me to have him walk me down the aisle.

My Dad has also been at two of my births. Right there in the room with us. How many daughters can say that?!

For Thomas' birth, we birthed at home. While I'm not sure he completely agreed with us doing it unassisted at home, he still was there for support. For Natalie, he was right there (this time at the birth center)...even holding my leg during delivery. He was in our home for Mary's birth, but downstairs. He had told me after Natalie's birth that he didn't think he could do another birth. He's Mr Emotional so I completely understood. I'm sure it's not easy to see your only daughter in the pain of labor!

Even with our choice to home school our children...I'm not completely sure he totally agreed with us...but he supported our choice, nonetheless. What a compliment he paid to me one day when we were at a family reunion in NY a couple of years ago. He was talking to someone else and said that I had done a pretty good job so far of educating his grandchildren.

My Dad is now in NY, where he and Mom are working for a KOA for the summer. They've been full time RV'ers for the last five years...it's getting to be time to buy a home and leave the open road. I miss them terribly when they are not here...but I know that no matter what, if I need them, they'll be here. They always have been....they always will be.

Happy Father's Day to my Dad!!! I love you!!!!!!
